Confused - Staff or DW for Magplar

Hey

I havent played in some time and am slowly trying to catch up on all the changes. One thing I'm totally confused about is DW v Staff. In the past I've always used DW on my templar. So hoping people here can help me out as googling is giving me conflicting info.

What are the pros/cons of DW versus Flame Staff (is Lightening another option?) for Magica Templar PvP.
Does the 8% damage passive for flame staff no longer need a destro skill equipped?
If using DW, is two sharp/two nirn/mix better?

Maybe all this is old new, but I'm struggling to parse all the new info. Thanks!

I think dual wield's falling out of favor with staves counting as 2 set items now. You could still go DW if you don't wanna be forced to have a destruction staff ability slotted in order to take advantage of the passive. I'd personally go DW if you're mainly using sweeps/toppling charge.
Sorcerer's pretty much been the same for years. Nerf Rush of Agony and Saints&Seducer's

I personally prefer an inferno staff, even without a destro ability slotted. Magplar sustain sucks as it is, so being able to use a heavy attack to regain some magicka is invaluable to me. Staff light and heavy attacks also hit like a truck this patch so it adds quite a bit of damage. Using a heavy attack, animation cancelled with toppling charge into sweeps can be a good way to get some extra opening burst into your combo. It works especially well against squishy medium armor targets you want to burn down quickly without setting up a full PL combo. Fire staff also gives an opportunity to proc burning status, which gives another dot to proc skoria.

When you go destro you have to make a choice though. Do I take lightning to buff AoE or fire to buff ST, while DW buffs everything. It is a matter of preference. I personally feel a lot more at home with a staff than with DW. Destro also gives a lot more options for group play, where you can slot destro ult, plus ele drain can be a very nice group buff as well.

Staffs. Basically Templar is ranged class because binding javelin knocks enemies away from your puncturing strikes. Both charges are clunky and bug many times and cannot be used in close distances. Compare those to any other charge (even dragonknights chain charge blows true even solid rock after animation :). You also need to ha to regain mana. There is also stupid house ideology that you have to stand in your unfair small runes because they are supposed to be so good. All other classes have better mobility by far so staffs are just way better even in single target dps than jabs.

    Why not both?

I use Destro Backbar, for the benefits mentioned by Koensel (Heavy Attack resource regain and Ele Drain), but i use DW frontbar because it is more damage overall, and i really do not enjoy weaving destro la with sweeps.

When using DW always go Nirn on mainhand and Infused on offhand. Infused carries over on cooldown to mainhand. This is the primary reason why DW is still better than Destro sometimes. You get an extra Enchant and reduced cooldown.
