And what people are forgetting is you're not getting Crowns. You're getting an item bought with Crowns, an in-game item, bought with another in game item, in trade for gold (which is also only obtainable in game.)

Pretty sure, by very definition, this makes gold an in game item.

Zero IRL currency or IRL item of value is being exchanged here, and it's not a far walk to determine that if you trade an item worth [insert tooltip gold vendor value here], then you could exchange that amount of gold the same way.

It's been answered. No need to make it harder than it needs to be.

Another way to look at it, is you can't convert IRL $ into gold (violation of ToS), and you can't convert gold into IRL $ (still gold selling, as someone would have to produce the $). This is neither of those things.

As such gold has in game 'value' only.

Gina DID NOT say "Currency", she said "Items". So, I'm still not sure. You buy items with currency, so how can you consider "Currency" an item? When currency is something you use to buy items.

Disappointing when they ask a question that was directly answered by the post they are responding to. You would think people would read the posts they respond to.

But if their point was that you can farm gold now to get crown store items by finding someone willing to trade, that is a valid point.

Gold is an in-game item, as defined by the Terms of Service and EULA. Anything within the Service (i.e. game) is considered a part of that Service (i.e. a part of the game). Gold is not considered a virtual currency, as it is not purchased with real currency.

However, the Terms of Service also define things which fall under virtual currency as in-game items. Since virtual currency is also defined as having no value, and is accepted as part of the Service, Crowns are also technically considered an in-game item, even if they are not currently trade-able between players.

To clarify, trading an in-game item for other in-game items is allowed; trading in-game items for real-world money or other out-of-game items is strictly prohibited.

@ZOS_GinaBruno nice dipolamtic answer but what they are doing is in fact is using real world money, no matter what way you put it, to buy crowns with real life money and then trade for in game gold is skirting the terms, so in other terms like with guild trades it has become p2w.

Even if it is pay to win, there is nothing wrong with that. At least with this were paying each other so that it is two players getting the benefit instead of ZOS getting 100% of the benefit.

But the question is...is a Crown Store item considered an in-game item (since it is found in-game) or a out-of-game since it's purchased with crowns ie real money? That seems to be where all the confusion is.

A Crown Store item is considered an in-game item.

This makes sense. It used to bother me hearing about the crown-for-gold trading going on, but since both crown store items and gold are considered "in-game items" without any real world value it makes sense why it isn't considered trading money for gold. Since they are both considered in-game items ZOS might as well allow crown store items to appear in the trading window just to make the process simpler and to give both parties peace about not being scammed out of their crowns/gold.

@DoctorESO , I asked to a Moderator on the french side, here is what he said ( I will trad)

    Hello,

It is forbidden to exchange Ingame items with real money, or to trade them with real items. On the other hand, you can exchange ingame items with the currency of the game, namely the gold coins.

Then i asked if crown store items are considered as " Ingame items ", he said me:

The items in the Crown store are considered as Ingame items

This mean you can trade crown store items for gold because they are considerer as ingame items. As said gina.
