Anyway, I made a Twitch account eons ago and have watched some streams off and on. Didn't know Alcast had one. It was so fun hearing him say "RIP" lol...

I think this is a good thing that brings people together.

ESO has consistently been within the top 2 pages of Twitch, bringing exposure to the game. At the time of writing, ESO has 5000 views on Twitch (this is off-peak NA time too).

I've seen a lot of players who are in the comments asking about the game, and Im sure a fair few would have found the game now that it's actually visible on twitch and not lurking on page 15 with under 500 views like a month ago.

The recognition of some of the streamers that put in the hard work also is significant. Alcast with 2k views, Ninja with 1k. Great ambassadors to the game who are actually reaping the benefits from this emerging exposure brought to the game.

Now it's all about ZoS figuring out a way to make this sustainable, so people don't just get a one-off crown crate and leave.

But yeah, twitch has been another good platform for ESO to cement itself, and with more exposure brought to the game, more money will be invested back into it.

I don't watch streamers, but a lot of people do. I totally get why they would do this from a marketing point of view.

Time's are a changin' and if you aren't promoting your game on twitch or youtube (or having other do it for you) you will be left behind.

Streming can be informative but it's mostly for entertainment. There are eso streamers you can learn stuff from. If you want to know trial mechanics you'd go to alcast or ninjas stream. If you want to see a pvp build in action you can go to fengrush.

Or you just tune in without a purpose cause after all, it's free entertainment.

The argument "id rather play than watch" is dumb. Most people don't have a desktop or console that they can just whip out of their bag on demand.

Anyways, most people play and watch at same time anyway. I personally do especially when cyrodill is zergy or I'm doing boring stuff like grinding exp/gear.

The excuses I often hear why, are generally "Watch a "Pwo" pway it" (Insulting play on words intended), and to that I answer: I don't give a *** if the guy has a higher rating/level/gear level than me, I still don't see a reason to watch some random guy who looks bored half the time play a videogame, who potentially also has the most boring voice on the planet.

This is why I do not stream, or interested in the Twitch ecosystem what so ever.

Probably watch sports tho, i bet. Why watch them when you can go outside and do it at a park?

You're watching elite talent in professional sports.

I watch e-sports tournaments occasionally, but random streaming isn't e-sports. Streams are more akin to reality TV.

Actually, most of the streams are more like Twitter or Facebook. Randoms sharing their (boring?) lives while they play a game. A few stand out, yes.

I'm starting to wonder if you guys lowered the chance of those drops.

Last 2 days I received 2 crates, I casually checked out a few streamers, Alcast and that Retired guy I think. Today I've been watching the whole day, around 20 hours I've had the stream running in the background. Guess what? 0 crates.

If tomorrow will be no different I'll just unlink the account, doesn't seem worth the hassle with such a low chance.
