Someone suggested an assistant that actually fought with you...I have a better idea

This is the original idea I saw:
  • Assistant that would follow you into combat and attack enemies similarly to followers in Skyrim.
  • They wouldn't follow you into Cyrodiil or go to group-dungeons or trials with you.
  • You could change their fighting style and gear, etc. by talking to them.
  • They could be summoned in addition to one of the other assistants.

My version? How about we get to summon one of our other characters as this assistant?:
  • They use the gear and skills they have equipped at the time. Also the same stats.
  • They are controlled by the computer and function like any other AI combatant.
  • They gain some of the XP you earn while travelling together.
  • While summoned, you can interact with them to pass along items directly instead of having to do it using the bank as a go between (also works with stolen items).

Reasons this would be awesome:
  1. Playing as a Health Tank solo would no longer suck ass, as you could bring a high DPS character along with you to make killing stuff a lot quicker.
  2. Would also give DPS solo players more options for survivability.
  3. You can level an alt while playing on your main, which would be a huge time saver.
  4. Having a companion while questing just feels right. It sucks that our characters can't hang out together more often.

Or play as a sorcerer or Warden, there you got NPC combat and/or medic minions to help you out.

swtor already has this system. i dont believe it would suit eso.

It's different from having one of your other characters fight by your side.

    This is a no for so many reasons;
1 it would be complex to make one of your alts to follow you around the world also imagine the charge for the game and computers to have to load eachplayer and its companion.
2 xp gaining you say? why not just log onto that character so you actually work for it and not being lazy?
3 if you have problems being a health tank thats your fault, craft yourself some dps gear and enjoy the overland content.
4 we are not talking about time saving when you said it twice about leveling an alt with your main, thats laziness, get to work
5 having an alt as companion will just make the game more solo, and encouraging players to play alone would over time destroy the game just like it happened with guildwars 1 when you could have an army of companions all beefed up.

make friends, or just research more into your character so you can actually solo all the content you want.

    Peace

This is one of the things I love about WoW, in the past 2 expansions they give you followers in the form of Bodyguards where they could be a tank, healer, support, or just plain damage.

But, I like them to take it one step at a time. I would settle for a generic NPC that you could choose Mage - Fire or Resto, Thief Dual-Wield or Bow, Warrior - Two-Handed or 1h & Shield.
