Hearing a rumor about poisons....

Someone linked in my guilds discord some info about how the double-Poison most stam use on bow bar doesn’t stack with other stam. Which in essence, makes it kaka. Our discord chat got scrubbed so can’t find it anymore, but I know the guy was saying how they’ve started having their stam all do different poisons (double-Poison for one, Leeching Poison for another, etc.).

If this was legit, though, I feel like it’d have been talked about a number of times on the forums.

Any truth to this?

there is some kind of rule of how many effects with the same name can be stacked on which enemy. so in PvE boss fights poisons of the same type actually should stack similar as multiple curses from sorcs or backlashes from templars stack on a PvE boss. but if we look at PvP tough the same poison wont stack on an enemy player, so poisonig someone with a double dot poison, who already is poisoned by one, will just reset the dots.

That’s exactly what they were saying. I finally found the post, but it’s a discord message. I took a screenshot of it, but can’t seem to upload it to the forums.

Appears to have been that way since Clockwork City dropped, when poisons moved to count as a target-based debuff. If the exact same debuff is hitting them (it doesn’t matter the actual value of the poison if someone has a higher tooltip), it’s entirely that type of poison (double-poison, lingering poison, etc.).

I took a video too of a friend and I doing rudimentary tests, but it’s on console so no combat metrics. Both took off all our gear save the bow (nirn maelstrom) and poisons. We just did arrow hail, light attack, arrow hail, LA, till the 3m dummy was dead. Then ran comparisons with others health damaging poisons (in this case, Leeching). So Leeching on one, and he had the doubles poisons still. The TTK was less. Noticeably so. Even though the double poison should be doing the maximum damage, so you’d think us both using them would be optimal, one overwrote the other.

Also tried a few light attack poison procs. I’d do it, then he’d proc his a few seconds after mine. Even though mine still had time to tick poisons, I stopped getting poison numbers showing, whereas he was getting them. Both tried the different poisons, both got the poison numbers for the duration and the time expected.

This should be a bigger deal I think. Much preferred if a PC player with Combat Metrics could test, but this appears to be more than just a mere rumor.

Poisons should have never introduced for PvP and remained a PvE only thing. That you can stack different poisons on a player just shows what they really are: The perfect Xv1 tool. We didn’t need them for that as there are so many already in the game.

Totally agree. Resource drain poisons are prolific in Battlegronds, where without CP you’re already forced into fairly heavy sustain sets. But the fact that so many people use them and they keep refreshing on hit (multiple attacker’s leads to s high uptime) it’s sapped a lot of the fun fast-paced action from BG’s.
