Costumes for Alliance War Ranks

I would really like it, if certain costumes would come with certain ranks. So for example if you reach 20 (i think its captain?i might be wrong though), you unlock a fitting costume (however each alliance should have their own look). At rank 40 another one (dk the 40th rank, perhaps legate). And maybe one for the highest rank (Grand Overlord). So three for every alliance. The titles and skillpoints are a nice to have, but a few good looking additional costumes would motivate much more participation in Cyro.

Sure, if you’re ready to hear a bunch of pve’ers whine that these costumes “force” them to pvp.

(Sorry everyone, we’re dealing with salty stova today)

yeah, no, you might be right, I wouldn't be surprised, I mean some people... complain just for the sake of complaining. I like PvE and PvP, both are just different things, that have their own appeal.

It really depends how you play in Cyro. I am not at all good in 1vs1 PvP, and dont want to be, but from my experience you dont need to be good in 1vs1 too gain AP fast. You might need to play with a group though and do other things (scouting, burning enemy sieges/tents, taking keeps/resources etc.), which needs tactics, organization and lots of other elements, that can be fun/thrilling in their own way.

I think most PvE rs wont care, or try AvA for themselves, if they havent already for the skillpoints or other reasons. Those complaining would be very few. Reaching Ranks in Cyro means a lot of time- and effort - investment for players, group-leaders, everyone, i think it would be a real pity, that all those cant have good things, motivation and rewards, because a minority of people cant see them happy or cant get over themselves.

Also i think ZOS announced they will be adding some type of new helmet as a reward for the Alliance War, which looked pretty good from what I remember. But ok, it is just one armor piece, not a full costume.

I do both PvP and PvE.
With as much time as it takes to level up in PvP, I'm absolutely against this. We already have dyes and certain awesome furniture objects that we unlock with leveling up ranks.
Please leave costumes more accessible to everyone by not putting them behind a PvP wall that takes months to get. (With the exception of the Emperor costume of course.)

    Costumes for Alliance War Ranks
    ...why costumes?
Why not give people pieces of their alliance PvP crafting style for the outfit system upon ranking up?

Earn one piece for each five alliance ranks reached! Chestpiece at 5, belt at 10, gloves at 15, shoulders at 20, legs at 25, boots at 30, helmet at 35... (The weapons though you will still have to grab on your own, its only the "uniform" you get...)

Possibly also add some extra versions for higher ranks... like, say, at 40 you get a extra-special ornate and fur-lined "Officers Shoulderpiece" outfit option, and at 45 an open faced and gold-plated "Officers Helmet" outfit option and at 50 a extra-sparkly gilded and gemmed "Commanders Chestpiece" option...

I don't do pvp, and I collect costumes .. and yet, I think it's an excellent idea.
With the caveat, of course, that all 3 alliances should get different costumes.

Oh, they would definitely complain. There was a horse you could get in LOTRO, either at PVMP rank 6 or 9 (I forget which) and PVE horse collectors cried BITTERLY over it. I’d love to see more costumes tied to PVP, but reading the endless complaints of people who’d feel entitled to those costumes without PVPing would get a bit annoying after a while.

I can see your point partially, but if I think about it the other way round, we do already have that in terms of PvE. There are a lot of PvE exclusive Skins/Weapons/Titles, which (at least for me), are much harder to acquire, than ranks in Cyrodiil. They not only demand time investment, but really lots of learning, understanding mechanics, earning money for gold gear and much more ... . Gaining AP (which again, doesnt necessarily mean you re good in 1vsx ), doesnt ask me to do most of that. It can be a help, but its not as crucial.

Its partially true though. Especially the last 40+ ranks take a lot of time to reach, but that is also a reason why I think they (and one or two ranks under 40 as incentive) should be rewarded in their own way for those who take or have taken the effort.

I mean the dyes/furnitures are a quite nice to have thing, no doubt, but I cant really make out a rank if he is dyed in Legate black instead of Thalmor black. It is also a matter of appearance and picture of the field in Cyro, and amongst all the different styles I see, it would just be more fitting to the battlefield, if you could see experienced players in their alliance-rank gear.

yeah they did, the helmet is going to be a, i think both BG and AvA reward, but i cant remember the exact way/requirements (if any) to get it, cant remember what they said about the other costumes, but am definitely looking forward to it.

    They should definitely be retroactive.

That is a tough question for me  . I guess only the lore-masters or concept artists can really tell, if we wanted to stay true to the lore. Generally i would say they should be alliance themed. Even though the ranktitles sound very roman/imperial and american to me (Lieutenant, sergeant, centurion etc...) i think they should resemble their respective alliance. For me, strong coloured cloth on or in between metal usually looks good, but different people like different things, so i d say everyone could add some ideas about that.

That is a very good idea too. I mean you can buy the motifs, so those would be a really good incentive for beginning ranks (10+) as a way of saving money, but hence also dont really say much about your experience later on. So special ornate shoulder-pieces or Helmets for officers, and ornate Chest piece for the last rank sounds also really good, but should be different looking ones for every alliance. Apart from rewarding dedicated players,It is also about giving Cyro a more AvA atmosphere, and that would certainly add to it.

Not a PvPer here but I think it's a great idea. Can't let those who will whinge interfere with brainstorming. There will always be those who grouse (including myself). This would be a nice thing for PvPers, indeed.

I love this idea. Since the Alliance Rank names flip on odd numbers, I would suggest make a new one available at 9, 19, 29, 39, 49.

Tbh, is this any different than PvPers longing for that Dro’Mathra skin that they never get because they don’t PvE?

If you want the thing that comes from a specific piece of content, then put the work in and do that content. Don’t whinge because you don’t like you should have to do that content to get its reward.

The same way majority of the sets in the game are behind pve walls?
The same way some polymorphs are behind pve walls?
The same way some skins are behind pve walls?
The same way a Personality is behind a pve wall?
    Good Argument....
