Cool thing happened this weekend in Cyrodiil

Was playing in Cyrodiil this weekend trying to do as much as I can to get better at taking/defending keeps and outposts. Was able to reach the rank of Legionary for the first time. After a couple hours, I decided to finish the remaining three quests I had in Cheydinhal. I was a little skeptical if I'd be able to complete the m or not as I am DC and the area was EP territory. I went in, there were a couple EP people that seemed to be questing too and didn't pay me any attention, we just went about our ways. I was able to get 2 of the 3 quests I had left, completed. While trying to finish the last one I noticed a 720 EP player I hadn't seen before. I was sure he was going to destroy me so I just stood there waiting for it. He never did, but another EP player came up behind me and pretty much one shotted me. For the next 30 minutes, I kept making m way into Cheydinhal to turn in the last quest, but ultimately met my demise from the same player a couple times.

I was persistent in trying to turn that quest in as I had to get off soon. Well, I went back to Cheydinhal again, didn't see the player that kept killing me, but I ran into another player. Thought they were going to kill me, so I put up my shield. They did the same and let me go about my way. This is where it gets interesting. The player that killed me before came back and tried attacking me. They other EP I just ran into that didn't attack me, got between us and put up her shield to her alliance mate to signal not to attack me. Two or three other EP players came by too, and also put up their shields to make an attempt to signal their team mate not to attack me. It worked for a bit, but he eventually made it past them and killed me.

I thought this was a pretty cool encounter. Never seen that happen before in PvP.

What a nice and pleasant story.

That ganking player can *** off though.

It is tales like these that light up some hope for humanity in me. Other times I just question if human evolution was a mistake or not.

Lol I am learning that the ganking comes with the territory since it's PvP, not saying it doesn't get annoying, but I'm trying not to get so bothered by it lmao

It was really cool to see other alliance players defend me in front of one of their own players. Definitely a shocker.

See a true PvPer could argue thats cheating. I.e. It's helping the other alliance.

As that's the type of behaviour you see with AP farmers or emp flippers.

I know in your circumstance and with a PvE hat on it was cool. However arguably its going against the point of Cyrodiil and their alliance to do it.

I'm glad you had a positive PvP experience. And hope you stay beyond the event. Just saying I for one find that behaviour in other context despicable so its a fine line

You know, I didn't even think about this scenario in that context, but that makes sense. I'm still fairly new to PvP in ESO, so I'm learning to get out of the PvE mindset when entering Cyrodiil. I'm definitely going to be staying in PvP primarily with this character as I want to get better at taking/defending the keeps and actually help my alliance out rather than taking up space lol

Very encouraging story, unfortunately there will always be gankers that behave as such even when it is obvious that a person is just there for the PVE.

When I started this game it was only for the PVE, though I have found that the PVP can be just as fun, often even more than the PVE.

However I do wish there was a way to play in Cyrodiil with PVP off. It is very frustrating to be questing, shard hunting, or just exploring the beautiful environment to be randomly killed and have to retread the same area multiple times to complete a PVE task.

My first time in PvP two weeks ago had a similar encounter. I watched an EP player solo attack a farm, and we had an engaging conversation afterward before he told me I should scoot before the rest of his zerg came into town.

Most misconceptions I've heard about PvP were wiped once I got into it.

Too bad so many people let these misconceptions prevent them from at least trying it.

    My story isn't so pleasant.

After about 3 hours of EP farming us at our tri keeps, I decided to go take Bruma for a rez point. As soon as I got there I seen an EP next to one of the quests. I attacked and during the fight all he did was block. I killed him.

Generally if I'm passing through a Cyrodiil pve quest town I feel like Clint Eastwood.

I don't shoot first, often get shot at first and do a sly, cheeky grin, watching them attempt to kill me. Usually I show mercy after they realise they don't stand a chance... But sometimes I can't control it and I let my inner Clint out and obliterate them.

Glad you viewed your experience in a positive light

That's awesome. I know the whole point of PvP is to kill one another, so I can't really blame people for taking advantage of how the game is meant to be played. But it is always fun when opposing teams can put aside their murderous priorities for a time to have fun. I had a pretty fun experience in Imperial city where my faction and an enemy faction worked together to kill Molag Bal. I thought it was a real hoot, and it remains one of my favorite moments on ESO.

Great story. I've never experienced it to that degree (being helped out by an opposing faction). Usually when I'm questing and run into other factions that are also questing, we tend to just ignore each other, or if they're on their way to a keep, they don't bother stopping to duel b/c that's not what they're there for.

Your story really goes to show the varying maturity level of players too. They recognize and respect when someone is there to complete quests and not infiltrate their keep and so not a threat to them.

One circumstance that I totally understand is being in the wrong place at the wrong time, when a zerg rolls right over top of you. It actually makes me laugh when it does happen b/c you're so hopelessly outnumbered.

Why would u not get attacked by enemy player in PVP zone?
Story is unbelivable becasue players are ghost like in terms of moving thru each other. I would slay the crap out of u, to make sure u wont come Cyrodill again.

we're definitely not all maniacs obssessed with killing everyone not the same color...

heck, these days a large percentage of us have characters fighting for each alliance...

I remember when I first started out in pvp getting killed by everyone who even looked my way...

I was super happy when I finally figured out how to use emotes and I could get folks to not kill me by waving and dancing...

this event, and the quest towns, were about getting paid, not, fighting - for a large number of regular pvpers...

some folks can only see things in black and white though...they miss out on all the gray that's in between...

It’s interesting that you guys think there’s a correlation between not attacking someone in a PvP zone and maturity.

He's wrong. If a true PvPer comes to a quest town and kills you, you got in the way of a flag flip for points. They otherwise see no point in killing lowbies and PvE folk.

Most people are decent, if you want to gank with honor go for the supply line from enemy keep to the siege.
This is both honorable, give lots of AP at the right spot and help your faction.
You also run the risk of running into stuff like former emperors and overlords, no they would not use that title :)
Or that the lvl 23 was an alt who had both and had friends.
Grinding just make you go in circles.

Cyrodiil always has random types of players. Sometimes when I've finished a quest in enemy territory, I run up to an enemy player and try to get them to kill me so I can quickly teleport back to the gate. Half the time, the player(s) will just start jumping around, doing emotes, playing instruments etc. At other times, I can be minding my own business trying to complete a quest, and some random player will viciously attack me. Sometimes I will try shielding repeatedly, blocking, and jumping up and down to let them know we don't have to fight. Even if it's a lower CP player, some of them just keep attacking until I'm forced to respond until one of us is dead.

Some of the names in PvP are hilarious as well. I've killed and been killed by both Wrobel's Meta, and Wrobel's Revenge. Another one I thought was funny was The Punisher haha. Sometimes I've messaged players who killed me, or whom I killed. For the most part, I find Cyrodiil much more easy-going and relaxed than PvE. Sometimes even running with guildies in PvE is annoying. Some of them ask if anyone wants to run such and such vet dungeon, then through the entire run brag about their parses, and generally act like a teenager who has ingested too much caffeine.
