And yet another newbie question, Stamsorc related...

Ok, given that I have been gone from the game since Craglorn do folks reckon starting a new toon a wise thing? I have 3 50's but am wondering if that much has changed am I better off starting from scratch and learning the game pretty much all over again? I ask because the few times I have gone out and about on those 50's I get my butt handed to me and I think its because I am playing wrong? Thoughts/insights? Thanks. ;)

It would be a good idea to start a new char, just to learn once more how everything works. But you also could continue with one of you 50ies, do some quests in the dlcs for example, to relearn how the class works. Get some gear together, think once more about your skills (stamina skills profit from stam pool and weapondamage and magicka skills from max magicka pool and spelldamage).

Classes radically change every 6 months. No need to start anew. Just dont start reskilling and regearing until youve grasped the toon well again or u might make costly mistakes.

Classes in this game take a long time to learn and master so mistakes will be made regardless. I'm still adjusting everything with my stamsorc tank on a regular basis. Unfortunately not everything has an explanation and often requires test and trial to figure out. Forums are a good start but I would recommend going through your class/build and set up thoroughly quite often.

The next bit of advice is don't make any gear Gold until you start doing vet trials regularly or, in case of PVP, have explored every possibility as much as possible. Otherwise, again, you will make costly mistakes.
