The tutorial/starting area post Morrowind purchase?

So, what the flip? I don't understand.

I've read that you can do it by talking to a "Hooded Figure" or something, but what happens after? How does it "fit in" now?

That section of Coldharbour was a tutorial section. Now it's a main game section? Do we get to see our character unwittingly be sacrificed and become a soul shriven?

It's just...jarring, and unpleasant, trying to make sense of things. Why can't I pick my starting zone? What if I don't WANT to start in Morrowind and Vvardenfell?

Please note that I am not talking about Stros M'kai or Bleakrock or any other such place: I'm talking about the vanilla tutorial area where all characters regardless of faction start, where you first meet Lily and Cadwell and The Prophet etc.

you can go to hooded figure to get the original tutorial. Its to your benefit to start in morrowinds tutorial anyways because it grants a skillpoint that pre morrowind characters cant get

Okay, but like- what does the Hooded Figure say? Does he lead you somewhere and you're knocked out? Does he drug you? How does the Hooded Figure ritualistically kill you, or lead you to those that do?

Is the new Morrowind starting zone like a prequel that gives new insight into how you came to be sacrificed, and what you were doing prior? What was that boat we were on? Who was our drunken companion? Did he survive? My mind, it's boggling.

You want to start with Morrowind as it gives you an additional skill point that is locked out for any characters created before you have the expansion. The story is now you're a normal person who got an opportunity to go to Morrowind, but get entrapped by slavers. It's like the police giving away free boats to lure people with outstanding tickets, just way more sinister.

The hooded figure tells you their benefactor has something for you that could alter the state of the world. When you go to the location indicated, you find the "benefactor" gagged and tied up, upon which you're knocked out and part of the original intro cutscene (where you're led in chains to Mannimarco, who stabs your soul out of you into a soul gem) plays. You're then in the Wailing Prison, the length being longer than when it was the tutorial, but shorter than the original version that could take almost an hour. It's missing all the tutorial prompts but the story plays out.

    Thank you so much!

Now it all makes more sense, and my mind is at ease.

An extra skill point is awesome, but it means nothing to me without a coherent story.

I suppose I would've found out on my own eventually, but I was basically paralyzed with all the questions I had.
