7th legion or armor of truth for stamblade in battlegrounds

tldr: 7th legion or armor of truth (or both, or neither)? My understanding is armor of truth will give me a burst window after SA from stealth, or after triggering tactician, whereas 7th legion might have more prolonged uptime throughout a fight. Is this correct?



So, I finally tried battlegrounds and am loving it. Despite being a very subpar pvper. I don't really want to gank, and from what I've read, a heavy armor build seems like a good fit for the playstyle I tend toward in pvp.

I'm trying to figure out what gear I want to use, largely going off gilliam the rogue's stamblade pvp build on deltia's site. Basically, I'm wondering if I should go with 7th legion or armor of truth (or both, or neither).

A couple questions regarding armor of truth:

A) If I successfully surprise attack someone out of stealth and get them off-balance, then follow up with a heavy attack / rending slashes...this seems like a nice bursty combo (surprise attack, DW heavy attack, rending slashes initial hit plus subsequent bleed tick, plus any enchant/poison/monster set procs that might occur...also with off-balance preceding the combo, increasing the damage of the heavy attack by 70%, plus all damage by 10%). Am I understanding this correctly? This seems nuts.

B ) How should I evaluate uptime of the weapon damage buffs of 7th legion vs armor of truth? My understanding is that using tactician to get off-balance on roll dodge is the way to get off-balance, but I've heard variable descriptions of the off-balance changes and how its uptime is limited now. There's a 15 cooldown, right? So, then armor of truth might give me a little burst window after a surprise attack from stealth, after triggering tactician with a dodge roll.

BGs are a non-CP environment, so you can write-off Tactician. The remaining offbalance uptime that you'll get from cloak>SA is too minimal to justify Truth.

While it sounds solid in theory, most good opponents will either hold block or dodge when they see you go into cloak to set-up an offensive window, thereby denying you the offbalance proc.

That's not even considering the occasions when you simply get popped out of cloak by an AoE before you even get a chance to cast SA (good luck trying to land the combo on a Sorc with boundless/hurricane, for example).

If you want to play a heavy armor brawlblade in BGs, 7th is the better option by far.

You could also consider veiled heritance, it’s a decent set.

Under rated set. It has no cool down with alot of dots it can be up all the time. Works great on a stamsorc. Ive never tried it on a nightblade.

Use seventh legion, it's easy too get and with new update you can pair it with shacklbreaker and have seventh procing in both bars. Cheers.
