The most overlooked feature of ESO Housing....

When Housing in ESO was first introduced, I was underwhelmed to say the least. I was never a big SIMs fan, and I never really got into the vanity perks that ZOS offered. My aversion to being a homeowner disappeared when a feature of owning a home was discovered... You can fast-travel from any PvE area in Tamriel to your house FOR FREE... So if you are out in the wilds of the Rift and need to get to a wayshrine PDQ, don't wear out your mount... just travel to your house.... If you are trapped in a dungeon with no gold... NO PROB... Just go home!!

Its kind of nice? I guess I have enough gold that half the time I'm like "146 gold, eh, whatever."

But then again I'm enough of a roleplayer that building my clockwork mage a workshop where the only actually useful thing in it is the Precursor was something I was happy to spend a bunch of gold on, so perhaps my judgment is a little warped...

Lol. You get the "better late than never" award :)

Yes, it's why Snugpod next to Elden Root and 5 steps away from the Outlaw's Refuge is by far my favorite house.

A heist in Vvardenfell goes horribly wrong and you accumulate buckets of bounty? NP... free port to Snugpod, into the refuge and all is well. Head over to the wayshrine a few yards away and back to Vvardenfell you go.

Yeah, I do that all the time. At least with certain houses. Most of them aren't worth it just for this, since the cost of the house totally dwarfs the 146g for a random port (I realized this when I considered getting Snugpod so I could go to Elden Root more), but the four free apartments are well worth it.

I've been getting a lot of use out of the Vivec one, it's great to pop back to when finishing up a round of dailies.

Sorry it's so late for some; but that just proves the point that it has been overlooked for years.... I've been playing since 6 months BEFORE public release and I have never seen any mention of it.... especially in ZOS's promotion material for houses...

I wonder what could’ve happened to make you want to sell your home.

I for 1 had an issue a long time ago, where the home I purchased had a ton of clipping issues. So I filed a complaint with customer service, and was refunded my crowns for the home (it was Mathiisen Manor). Since then, I have heard all types of issues people have been having with that particular house. Clipping issues, windows being covered up by stone of sort, raining inside the house, etc. I’m so happy I was able to get rid of that junk, you don’t even understand.

But! On the flip-side of things...? My purchases since then? The Grand Topal Hideaway, Linchal Grand Manor, and most recently the Observatory Prior? Absolutely superb buys. I’d highly recommend them to anyone looking for luxury as well as space. The Grand Topal Hideaway especially.

I thought it was common knowledge which is why no one ever mentioned it. You know like "dont run with your sword out". You know another secret no one ever mentions? You can travel to any online guild mate free of charge. No need to run into a zone on a new character to unlock wayshrines. Just find one in the zone and travel to them. No one ever tells you that either lol.

I think it would be a far more attractive feature if you could build a waypoint in your home. Many homes are far enough away form a waypoint themselves that it's almost a waste of time porting to it just for the waypoint.

But I few could build a waypoint in the housing area...then bam. totally worth it.

There were a ton of mentions on it on here. There's a thread about which house is near which place. Cheap ones to buy for convienince like snugppd, Bal foyen etc

As per others tho the very small gold cost is negligable once you have half good income. I do prefer home travel over scrolling for guild mates however at least you know where in the zone you will end up

I agree with the waypoint in your home idea all the way. It would be wonderful to be able to go everywhere right from your house.

I thought this would be about the lack of toilets. Some of my characters have been holding it in for years now. That can't be healthy!

Another thing is the coffer or chest. You place it in all your houses and you have a fast and convenient "bank" space for free, since every chest has the same items you put, which is great for transferring the goods between your characters

I’ll share another tip that I use with housing.

If you have a stack of the same surveys (blacksmith, enchanter etc). You can collect the survey, fast travel to an non owned home....immediately exit and it will put you back right next to the refreshed survey node to collect again.
    Of course I like steak. I'm a Nord, aren't I?

There's a reason most cities are next to water.

Jump in and let it all out.

    Nirnroot sure love it.

Real estate taxes are a major pain. I'm ready to start flipping houses after I've done a little bit of TLC on them.

I don't know about other alliances, but the FREE apartment you receive in Vulkhel Gard is right by a wayshrine... You literally walk out of the free house and it's right in front of you...

Exactly. The location of the house in Vivec City is good for getting to a Vvardenfell wayshrine, starting the boss quests or turning them in, and getting to the crafting stations.

The free apartments in the alliance cities are also good ways to get to a wayshrine.

For me I like the free inn rooms. Finish a quest, don't feel like walking/riding back? Instant port to an inn room near a wayshrine.

The one in Vulkhel Guard is a few unguarded steps from a wayshrine, when for some reason I get a bounty. And then on to Anvil wayshrine, a few unguarded steps from the local Outlaw's refuge.

The one in Vivec City is good for daily quests.

The ones in Ebonheart and Daggerfall (and Vulkhel Guard) got used for the recent Jester's event.

I have four mostly empty inn rooms which all get some travel. Someday I should furnish them. Someday ...

I use the Snugpod in Elden Root as my "trophy room" to display my Trophies and busts from Vet. trials... It's also a dead skeever's toss from the Outlaw's Refuge... so there's that...
