How to sell items to other players

How do you sell items, like blue and purple items, to other players? I've tried opening trades with them, and that doesn't work. They decline. Is the only other way to do it joining a guild and selling it there?

Randomly trading isn’t going to work well.

You can join a guild that keeps a weekly trader. Guilds often charge a weekly fee - traders are spendy. Be prepared to pay $5-$10k per week for a guild that stays in a good spot. It’s worth it...and you can farm enough items to warrant it. That’s only like 1 alloy you’d need to sell to pay for the spot.

You can try some chat. But honestly you’ll spend more time trying that than just joining a guild.

What server are you on? I’m on PS4 NA...reply using @davey1107 in the post if you want some guild, referrals. If you’re on another server, maybe someone will help you out, or you can go to the guild section of the forums.

You have 2 options to sell to players.

    1. Sell in zone chat. Type something like "WTS [link item here] for [x price]". If on PC, I recommes using Tamriel Trade Center or Master Merchant for pricing or look up average prices for your platform.

Edited to add: when you sell in zone chat, you can trade or send items via COD mail. Trading via opening trade windows means you have to meet the person and requires honesty and good faith on the part of buyer and seller. For COD mail, you attach the item and set the agreed price, and if the buyer doesn't pay it the item is eventually returned to you.

    3. Join a trade guild. Type something like "Looking to join a trading guild" or answer a guild advertisement that seems like a good fit for you. A trading guild will give you 30 slots to sell items from their trader location. Trading guilds have to bid on a trader every week so many will ask members to donate or buy raffle tickets or meet a weekly sales quota to help meet the bid cost. Find a guild that fits your playstyle! I'm in 3 trading guilds and of those, one has no weekly requirements, one asked a 1k weekly sale minimum, and the last asks for 10k in raffle tickets or 50k in sales but their trader location is always great and I can easily make that sales quota with my playstyle.

Most of all, find a method that fits how you play! There are tons of different guilds, so there no need to stick with something that doesn't fit your needs.

wts (whatever it is) for [reasonable price]

    works well in my experience.

join some trade guilds.... most have reasonable requirements, sell 20k a week, some no requirements.

    trading is not a problem.

I've heard about an add-on for trading and selling called Auction House or something like that. Is that an alternative to trading guilds?

    Trading guilds or via chat.

Don't just try to open trade windows people hate that, gold sellers etc do that.

Join a trading guild or link item in zone chat.

Then to sell use COD mail or you can use trading window but dont hit submit till both parties have entered something

I find it very annoying if people randomly come up to me to trade.

For the record, if you DO sell in zone, list the item or items that you're selling, and make sure to also put *THE PRICE THAT YOU WANT*.

Half the time I see people just yelling "WTS [some item]" in zone. When you ask them the price, they reply with "offer?" When you give them an offer, they invariably say it's too low, despite it being close to MM or TTC. These people are merely fishing for players who are oblivious to the fact that pricing addons like MM and TTC exist. Don't be like these people. These people are pricks. List your price.

They decline? Because you just make random trade attempts at random players? of course they'll decline lol ;)

I suggest you join a trade guild. There are lots of smaller trade guilds that doesn't require much in terms of fees or weekly sales, but of course you'll have to price your offers lower to attract some business due to their traders often remote or semi-remote locations.

If you do use zone chat you'll either have to spend ship-ton of time advertising your goods, or price them considerably lower to attract buyers. Make sure to mention your prices in the advertising post you do or you'll just waste time on folks contacting you that don't want to pay what you will be asking.

Personally I like being a member of one of the front row Belkart traders; that'll give you some very nice exposure and ability to price items higher and still get plenty of sales, which you'll need for the higher weekly sales limit these guilds demand.

Prepare to waste most of your very limited guild slots with trade guilds unless you can sell a consistent amount week to week. Seems kinda backwards to me, but whatever.

You can price to sell or sell goods constantly in demand. I find that crafting materials and potion reagents sell very well.

Just farm a single hour in Craglorn and you'll probably have enough to cover the weekly sales limit for even the most demanding guilds.

Same as what the others said, look for a trade guild and be prepared to be asked to sell 10k or more per week. There are probably some with no requirements, but the ones in good spots will need to make money to pay for their bids.

Go to this page on the forums https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/categories and scroll down to the Guild Recruitment category. Pick the sub-forum that's associated with the platform/megaserver that you're in. There will be guild recruitment threads there, or you can open one yourself and ask for an invite in a trade guild.

Use mail and COD the item to the buyer.

Cuts down on someone cheating you out of your money. HOWEVER, make sure you push the COD button and put the amount of money in the block lol. I forgot to do that once, but the buyer was nice and told me I had forgotten to do that, and still sent me the money.

I keep the buyer informed where I am time-wise in sending the stuff to him/her, i.e., putting stuff in mail, sending to you now, etc. That seems to be appreciated by most players I've dealt with.

Oh, and I'm not in a guild, never had many problems selling things in chat.

    Good luck.

You can also sell items through the Guild Store even if you don't have a Guild Trader. Only other people in your guild will be able to buy the items, though. But items do sell.

I sometimes sell items in zone chat. When they ask price, I ask offer. Most of the time I take the offer. For example, if I’m selling worm cult motifs and I ask for an offer, then they reply with 5k will bounce to 50k because it’s what they are going for, then if they come back with say 30k, I would accept it. If they bounce back at 10k, then I do not bother. My point is that it’s ok to ask for an offer, just make sure the price is reasonable or at least be willing to negotiate.
