Captain Blackheart is a ***.

When Captain Blackheart in the Blackheart's Haven dungeon turns you into a skeleton, all your skills on your skill bar disappear for the duration. So when he dies while you're in skeleton form you get 0 XP on all those skills. It has happened to me a couple of times while leveling up a new toon, that when the random normal dungeon of the day is Blackheart's Haven I simply didn't get any skill XP from completing the dungeon that day. That sucks even more when you've put your event XP buff and an XP potion on.

The mechanic is completely un-avoidable, so can it really be right that through no fault of their own, at least one player on every Blackheart Haven run has to lose the chance to level up skills?

Completely unavoidable... unless you hunt for Hircine

experience for skills is awarded when the boss dies...so unless you are a skeleton when he dies you will get exp. Simply have the DPS stop DPSing for a moment until skeleton effect ends

last week i got turned into a skeleton the captain was getting low on health my grothdar proced and saved my bony butt lol

Realize that unless you are with other WW's, if ole Capn Blackheart could grab you and hold you unmoving, you wouldn't be able to generate more time in the transform (e.g., pounce). Theoretically, you would also lose the benefits of being in WW form (higher stats and armor).
