Could we please go back to a GMT/BST for maintenance.

The UTC time is so confusing. I always have to explain to guild members what time it is taking place.

    UTC = GMT (but is used for political reasons (nothing to do with ZOS))

    As above UTC = GMT+00.

    UK is now UTC+1 (BST)
    Central Europe UTC+2 (CEST)
    Eastern Europe UTC+3 (I think)

    I don't know, but all I do know is that everyone in Asia is experiencing a second evening of no play. They turn it off just as I come home from work. Normally I'd shrug it off, but in this special week I know I am going to get less than 6 hours of sleep again making sure all my dailies get done for the goodies. Too many motifs a day not to do it. Almost slept past my bus stop this morning.

    Hamster replacements. The sheer number of daily crafting writs being done has burnt the poor little things legs out running those wheels.

    My best bet is a combo of things.
    1: trying to fix the disconnect issue.
    2: Normal server maintenance.
    3: Prepping the servers for when the new expansion comes out.

    All this together will cause bugs on yo bugs. hence more than normal server maintenance times
    What are Natch Potes? Can you eat those?

    As others have said, UTC = GMT, they are one and the same.

    UTC is the superior choice regardless for a global game. Everyone should know their time zone as UTC+ or UTC- some number, so it's basic arithmetic to figure out what the time will be where you are.

    yes and I am used to utc so I actually know the exact time in an instant now without thinking about it, so I like the change :)

    Not GMT changes, your clocks change from GMT to BST. GMT is always UTC+0. And UTC is the world time, sounds appropriate for an international game. GMT/BST is a regional thing since 1972.

    UTC is not equal to GMT.

    UTC is a universally adopted time standard (which remains constant) whereas the GMT is a time zone - that is only adopted by a few countries.

    That is why it is preferable to use UTC rather than GMT.

    For lay purposes, yes, the values for UTC and GMT remain the same.

    ESO is an international game, so it only courteous and proper to adopt an universally adopted standard, ie UTC.

    What bugs me about 'time' the most is the outdated use of "AM" and "PM". The 24 hour clock should be standard.
    I will go further than that and say all alarm clocks, that can only be set to AM/PM, should be crushed and recycled or sent to Oblivion!

    Right lets try to look at this from a different angle otherwise we will keep going in circles.

    Some people (I am not) get confused with the time zones and seeming as the games used to use gmt/bst in the past there should be no issue of adding both times to the header.

    Is it not better to try to keep as many people happy as possible?

    Well, most people not living in GMT (the timezone) would be confused by BST. At least I was, when I first saw it. So the majority of the world should use that special time zone, just because some people (I guess living in just that zone) are confused by a universal world time?
