Ok here's whats going on: I've been saving gold like a madwoman, and have finally reached my goal in the bank. I wanted to be able to purchase the upcoming Coldharbour Estate that costs 1 million gold and not be broke afterwards. I originally wanted to buy it to finally build a dueling arena. I keep trying in my current houses and the arenas always end up becoming something else by the time I'm done adding to them.

My question is, should I keep saving even longer and buy a Notable home? Should I just keep saving and turn an existing home into a dueling arena? Should I scrap the idea and spend all that gold on motifs? I have options, and want opinions :)

I’d recommend the Notable home. They’re huge and will hold a dueling arena just fine, amongst so many other things.

Ok here's whats going on: I've been saving gold like a madwoman, and have finally reached my goal in the bank.
Here I was thinking I was the only one with this issue. I also did the same by having the citizens of Tamriel fund my venture (whether they liked it or not).

Now, with the funds in hand, I just simply cannot let it go into a house sink. I once wanted the house in Eastmarch, but now, not so much.

I decided to hold onto it, just in case ZoS adds more homes to the game and I find one I really enjoy.

My only property (excluding the free closet the game gave me) is in Khennarthi's Roost. I just wish it were right outside Mistral, on stilts over the water, but alas, it's in the middle of a field infested with bugs.

My dream home: a lighthouse in Hew's Bane.

Thus, my tl;dr option: hold onto the gold unless you truly want a better house. Having 1M is a great start, but if it's not the house you really want, keep saving.

Buy it. Don't make it a duel arena. They generally don't get use and look poor.

I think the Notable home is a very bad idea, getting that for what? Coldharbour would suit just fine, I really don't see the need to waste so much gold on a notable house that cannot even be decorated properly (above all) and feel empty, Coldharbour at least gives you more freedom in that sense, because you can perfectly delineate the space to use, being all open.

At any rate, if you feel like erasing one of the houses already decorated (and the Coldharbour place is not what you consider "the dream arena"), it would be most convenient to build the arena in that old house, so much spared gold for anything you like, furniture plans (past and future, there will be Summerset and you don't want to be broken), rare furnishings, motives, mats you need for anything.

Good luck with your choice, whatever you decide.

A Hew's Bane lighthouse sounds like a really good idea! I can picture the lighthouse tower being a small bunk-like living quarters with a lovely yard, hopefully with a good view on a hill :)

In general, it's a bad idea to spend all of one's money on a single item. But it's just a game and only you know how much enjoyment you might derive from a purchase vs how you would feel without the gold. Personally, I prefer to have enough gold and mats on hand to buy/craft anything I might need or want on a whim.

It also depends on how you earn gold. If you're good at buying and selling for a profit, you can turn 1M into 10M within a couple of months. That can be a risky path though.

If all you want is a dueling arena, save your money and just convert an existing home into one.
