Would you like to see in-game mini games in Elder Scrolls Online?

The April’s fool post from Elder Scrolls Online on facebook about combat going to be replaced by the ES card game actually got me thinking. Wouldn’t it be cool to have a bunch of in-game mini games in Elder Scrolls Online that you can play with other players. Some board games, dice or small card games. And maybe even allowing players to put in wagers at the start of the game, something like max 100 gold, and the winners gets all that gold. What do you think of this idea?

    What? Gambling? LOL

Given the hysteria about gambling, I don't think that's a great idea. As for the mini-games without gambling, eh, whatever. I prefer to MMO when I'm in an MMO and if I want to play other games, I go do so.

I'd like a card game, like a top trumps dueling trading game using all creature types from ESO, can collect rare cards from rewards, pve/PvP milestones and quests.

And we already have one, provided by Pacrooti. So, yes, but only if those mini games will have nothing to do with the Crowns.

Well...techically there's carnival of repeatable quests you can do. Racing, lizard racing, troll fighting but would like to see some that involve more people or are well more robust.

Mini games like they have in Witcher would be ace here, and would bring the taverns some much needed love and attention, you can play against NCP's for gold, or they could even do a PVP option. Would be neat. :)

It'd be awesome to see sports of some kind in the game! Not only more to do, but sports help a world feel more fleshed out. What do the people of Tamriel do for entertainment?

I'd prefer this game not turn into a facebook game like WoW where you have mission tables and pet battles.

I won that game the first time I played it, three free crates last year. I got the wilds bear in the first one, and the senche in the second one, and have gotten nothing since then. Beginners luck, man.

No. The amount of existing content is already more than satisfying. In some sort over-whelming as well. I wouldn't personally want any additional mini games, cards and so on. Even if it happens , I'll simply and swiftly avoid.

I think the kind of mini-games that would do good for the game are player-to-player interactions. Give us a card game or a board game that fits into the ES universe, which we can play with other players.

We do not need more riddles or frog races or other rng based shite against NPCs.

Sure thing, would be fun to play Elder Scrolls Legends in the tavern with some challengers x). Or other games. Darts, another boardgame (if ZOS could come up with some ideas), there sure are some possibilities.

Vanguard: Saga of Heroes had an interesting Diplomacy card system. Something like that would be fun. Along with the usual stuff one would find in taverns.

I would like to see basic mounts added to the game with different specialities purchasable with gold e.g.

    Horse - All rounder.
Bear - Increased Stamina, Reduced Speed
    Guar - Increased speed
Camel - Increased Carry Capacity, Reduced speed
Senche - Increased Speed, Reduced carry capacity

Then something like Horse racing could be introduced allowing people to try and put together a build which works for them.

I really think Stables should be regionalised in what they sell so Guars can only be purchased in Morrowind and Blackmarsh. Bears only in Wrothgar, Camels in the Alik'hr, Senche's in the Summerset isles and Wolves in Valenwood.
With horses being a catch all sold everywhere.

It would add a different dimension to the game and make folk prioritise what is most important to them - Carrying more across the map, being fastest, running for longest etc.

I have no interest in such things in any game, but I can appreciate that others would enjoy them and I'd therefore have no problem with it - provided they don't divert too much development time away from producing the primary content and they don't start incorporating the mini-games into quests and e.g. festival events such that you can't complete the main game and its various achievements without having to participate in the mini-games.

This has been suggested many times, and it definitely would be a nice option (<--note this word) for those who want them.

My most recent note (which includes an older note) on the topic posted yesterday:
Yeah, some people like playing Triple Triad with other actual humans in FFXIV. Not into card games too much myself, but, I think more inn/tavern mini-games would be great for ESO, card-based or otherwise. Maybe some racing games, mounted or unmounted (we see the latter in Reaper's March but it's NPC-opponent only). I figure something along these lines will be added eventually, but that day is probably a ways off.

    And from this thread:
Racing Games can be foot races like the one NPC quest in Reaper's March called Spikeball where you hit other players with an object to slow them down or it could be a really fun mounted racing course (or multiple courses) involving strategy and riding skill. Mounted parkour anyone? Give suitable rewards such as gold. Lots and lots of precious, precious gold.

Tavern Challenges can be part of a proposed set of tavern activities. These don't have to be part of leaderboards but can still allow for competition between players.

Fishing Competitions are described earlier in this same post. If you missed it: Add an NPC who talks about bragging rights for Tamriel's Greatest Angler whom you can interact with to enter the weekly contest. Have achievements for getting certain scores (based on quantity and quality) as well as rewards for topping the leaderboard. Offer achievements, costumes, dyes, even unique motifs and other valuable items for rewards.

For the love of God yes. Give us more to do than just killing *** all day. Mini-games immerse you into the world, allow for new social interactions / roleplay opportunities, and break the monotony of repetitive end-game content.

Unfortunately this will never, ever happen. ESO was designed as a combat-oriented themepark MMO. It just doesn't fit the design philosophy of this game.
Edited by psychotrip on April 2, 2018 3:55PM
No one is saying there aren't multiple interpretations of the lore, and we're not arguing that ESO did it "wrong".

We're arguing that they decided to go for the most boring, mundane, seen-before interpretation possible. Like they almost always do, unless they can ride on the coat-tails of past games.

I'd like to see harvesting, crafting, and fishing turned into mini-games. For harvesting, they could do something like Ryzom, where you have to use skill and extra abilities to safely extract a material, otherwise it blows up on you.

For crafting, I'd like to see something like Vanguard's system, where you have to react and use extra abilities to craft the best items.

For fishing, I'd like to see something like Vanguard's active fishing game, where you had to react to the fish to get it safely caught.

    Gambling? no.
