Question about pvp siege

Why exactly should a player not be able to use siege from a different faction? I mean they don’t look significantly different for different factions. So they prolly don’t function much differently either. The fact you can’t use other faction’s siege just don’t seem reasonable. Zos why?

It'd be funny to get on the enemies siege and fire it when they are not looking. But.. it'd probably be pointing at my keep. Hmmmm

If I fired enemy seige at the enemy it probably would not hurt them, so the joke would be on me.

A cool abuse of being able to place enemy seige is capping the 20, so the enemies could not seige my keep.

Can think of a few reasons (maybe not good ones, but something at least);

1) No friendly fire.
It would be weird if you can fire a siege into a large group of people then if you get off to fight an enemy can jump on, fire the same siege at the same group and hit completely different people.

2) Forces people to actually fight each other rather then over siege.
Lets say they've got defensive siege setup on a back flag or something, currently you actually have to kill or put enough pressure on the sieges so they can't shoot at you. If we could use each other sieges then the easiest (and dumbest) way to neutralize a siege engine would just be to get a tank on it and turn it around.

3) Stealing siege.
If you can use other alliance siege does this mean you can pack it also? Cause following on from number 2 you'd no longer be fighting against players to neutralize siege, it would just be whoever can pack each others siege up faster.

Because the siege, like forward camps, are coded to allow certain players to use them and other players to burn them.

lol i think OP just means out of your inventory. Like, if i have AD Ballista in my bank why cant my EP character pull it out and use it.

In reality, they should be neutral like the other siege stuff (Oil, repair, etc) and stackable for space saving.

Perhaps it's because they're visually different?
At least with the rams, the metal cap at the end differs depending on your faction. Lion's head, dragon's head, eagle.

It's probably because of the way siege caps are coded. The easiest way to ensure that every faction can have a maximum of 20 sieges per keep is to make each faction's sieges a separate item. Otherwise you'll be able to have 40 sieges while preventing defenders from having any.
