Does anyone still use the Frost Staff ever?

I love the Warden. I also love Cryomancy along with Green Nature and Beast Magic.
So... my weapon of choice for the Warden is the Frost Staff.
Frost Destruction + Warden Frost Skills = Immersive as ***!
Don’t Like the new Tri-Focus Passive? Just avoid it! Simplicity Itself.

Although I see waaaay more people use an Inferno or Lightning Staff alot more than they use the Frost Staff.
Inferno/Lightning Destruction + Warden Frost Skills = Makes No Sense Whatsoever!

I woder if anyone still uses the Frost Staff at all, especially when they play as the Warden?

Tanking with a Warden but that’s about it. They should make a poison and disease staff.

I sure do, all the time. Then again I have 15 characters so I can afford to have builds simply to amuse myself.

It's an integral part of at least 2 of my PvP builds as well, including for a Health (rather than stam or mag) Warden.

This absolutely does not mean that I approve of the current state of frost staff.

They really need to just scrap the Taunt ability and just make a stronger Damage Shield.

    Yep. 4 types of players.
    A. Good tanks who use frost staff tanking as an effective magicka option
    B. PVP players who like the crowd control option of the Frost damage and passive
    C. Players who really want to role play a cryomancer despite it being less efficient at DPS or main bar tanking.
    AND
    D. Noobs who don't realize that the Trifocus passive makes the ice staff heavy attack into a taunt and then wonder why the boss is chasing them.

It is always on my Tank. Use it in all content, PvP, vDSA, Trials as main or of.
I also back bar on my Mag Warden DPS. I do the same 22k DPS weather I use Frost or Lighting there
Its also my preferred Healer back bar, as it gives me all the tankiness of S&B while still allowing magicka return.

On my tank and Healer I don't take the Tri Focus. On my DPS I simply don't HA on the frost. Casting Shalk's every 3 seconds means I'm pretty safe from the "wrong bar" HA

At this point, I spend more time on my Frost Staff for my Warden Tank than I do my SnB that I'd call my SnB my back bar instead.

I can't go back to SnB tanking anymore.

Oddly enough, I've only ever seen people using them on Vvardenfell. Outside of there, no matter if it's CWC, Orsinium, Craglorn, or any base game zone, I've never seen someone actually use a frost staff. I wish there were more people who would tho. Maybe it's their backbar weapon?

It works best with Magicka Wardens because they have that 200% bonus to chill and immobilize to 3 of their own skills, stack that on top of Ice Staff 100% chance increase for Blockade, and if you want to throw in Charged to top it off. Keeping a large crowd of mobs frozen at a distance is pretty funny without extra skills to do it.

also use a perfected asylum frost staff in magden in pvp, its pretty nice to have a hard cc with shalks, a soft cc with frost reach and a good spammable with force pulse (especially with the asylum perfected one)
i killed a lot of reds pouring to my ressource like that, alsways root, shalks and force pulse spam till they drop dead, which is pretty fast with shalks hitiing hard af and necropotence as damage set. sadly winterborn doesnt synergize well, since i have zero stamina using that setup....so shacklebreaker to go

My MagDen uses a Frost Staff when solo. To be specific, she uses a Maelstrom’s Frost Staff in sharpened. Not nearly as goood as the inferno or lightning variant, but still can get the job(s) done.

I would love to use an ice destro staff, and I would love to magicka tank. right now, though, those roles are conflated into something I just can't use.

I think this is getting fixed in the next big update.

I think frost damage should drain stamina. Perhaps lightning damage should sap magicka too.
