Templar Armor

Hey guys I was wondering if you could help me with something. I am a magplar healer/dps and I want to have 5 light 1 heavy and 1 medium. My question is which parts of armor should be heavy and which medium. As I understand I should have heavy chest since it has biggest armor value and that way I will have all the passives from light and biggest armor I can have from heavy, am I right?

Heavy chest, medium pants, for maxium resistances.

If you are crafting armour then yes. But if you are getting specific sets eg spell power cure (SPC) that only comes in light then you should get a heavy head slot and medium shoulders. That way you get 5 pieces of the set you want in light.

You can play around with rings , necklaces and weapons or have 2 sets eg SPC and worm cult and not have 1 heavy, 1medium. Best to decide what armour you want first then you can figure out the configuration.

I hate to say it, but gear is going to determine if you're DPS or a Healer. If you're wanting to be a healer, then you're looking at sets like SPC, Mending, or Sanctuary. If you're wanting to DPS, then you're going to be looking at stuff like Julianos, Silks of the Sun, BSW, Scathing, ect). There's some overlap, but not a lot.

Chest > Shoulders/Legs/Feet/Helm > Gloves > Belt when it comes to armor. You'll want your heaviest piece on the chest, second heaviest on any of the shoulders/legs/feet/helm, and lightest on the rest.

When I build my tanks, I use 5 heavy + 1 light belt + 1 medium gloves to get the most armor.

Most healers are secondary DPS anyways, because you dont need to be healing 100% of the time in most content (trials aside). All of my healers have a damage backbar, at least to stack some damage over time effects inbetween heals. Any decent healer should be able to pull at least 60% of what a damage dealer does in a group.

While this is certainly true, which role you're going for will heavily impact your set choices, and as a result, your armor options.
