Several of your chars in your house at once

It s a very minor feature I d like to see added, one that hopefully would be cheap to code in.

Say I log in with my Orc, port to my house and log out. Then I log another char and go to the same house.

My Orc is there, just like an NPC, drinking, wandering, beating the hell out of the dummy, wasting the house as an Orc should.
Given the house is large enough you could do this with all your chars, and see the whole party gathered.

Would you like that?

Any process that requires checking and removing redundant identities is not a minor feature, especially if it could conflict with existing placement limits. And because of clipping/stuck issues, you won't have mount, pet, or any other sort of free movement. Just a static image.

Just another example where unrealistic wish lists will only lead to disappointment in the final result, if one were ever produced.

This might very well be, I know nothing about coding. I still feel founded to have and express wishes. But agree that if they look stuffed it s not worth it.

Ah yes, maybe that s where I should have posted. And if you asked for this before well I support you, great minds think alike. Gonna try to find the discussions, see if people considered it doable coding wise.

I instantly love this idea. I've went ahead with Gorinir and dedicated a small section of it to my secondary character (Khajiit) who would look absolutely perfect standing next to his Khajiit house, yarn balls, and Khajiit vases.

By "minor feature" I mean a detail in the game. I would love it but it would be just a nice minor thing.

Also it s always good to dream... if it s impossible it doesn t happen and that s it. But many things we have now were just wishes recently.

Since we are allowed to dream, how about adding this...

I would be content if only one of your additional characters were able to be displayed in your primary, and with that single secondary choice would it not also be fantastic to be able to select one of the poses emotes for that secondary character display?
I would have my Khajiit stirring his bowl of food, for example.

where the genius really kicks in is that we wouldn t be forced to do it

Edit : I can see your point though. But out that it would of course be optional, to me it would just be nice to see them together, I don t roleplay and wouldn t spend more time in house. Many people somewhat roleplay though.

...can t tell if that was sarcasm but assuming it s not I was thinking to such settings as well. About behavior, and if we want them to appear or not . One could be set to like to use craft table and tend to, another would prefer getting drunk. If two like to train fighting they ll tend to do it together often.

Originally I was thinking of Serana in Skyrim who used to go here and there to her business without staying in your legs all the time. It s also her memory that made me think it could be easily coded in.

Half of posts are my answers so not sure it gets more attention really. But yeah, same idea basically. VilniusNastavnik also says it s been a recurrent request.

But again if they look stuffed I would never use it. And judging from how stone the mounts look right now it s probably all we could get.

But I don t get why on earth ESO can t do as well as old Skyrim here.

This has been brought up a lot but it is a good idea. If you own say 8 characters, why cant they just randomly walk around your home and do random things and interact with items. Would make the place feel very much alive. I don't understand why Zenimax is so slow at incorporating this kind of thing.

As i suggested in a similar thread, why can't your alts just be asleep in/on a bed(roll)? They're logically off-duty, after all. Static pose, no AI needed, just a furnishing item to place where they should sleep.

I would love to have my toons all wandering about my house doing random idling things. Not sure how easy it would be to code the pathing and such. Certainly just having them stand there would be easy but a lot less interesting.
I am currently worried for the future of ESO. Population seems like it is in free fall and the cancellation of the North America in-person gathering feels very much like pulling the plug. Kudos on fixing the in-game economy though. Clearly whatever gold shenanigans were happening the last couple years are fixed.

But what if they just made npc shades of your chars, that were bound to your primary residence?

I mean we can stand mounts, pets, assistants there and still use them...

Maybe they couldn't have pathing and so on, but surely we could set them on a chair or on an emote, and they could do those things.

This, dude. I think because of all the different homes, pathing might be ridiculous- but then so is my knowledge of programming- so I don't know.

We re all a bit at the same point it seems, wondering how hard this could be to code.
I know nothing about coding, and having opinions where you know nothing is stupid.
That being said here s my unvaluable opinion: it just can t be THAT hard.

    @Acrolas tells that

and he sounds like he knows but. ..majordomes were wandering in Skyrim s houses all right, didn t identities conflict there and clipping... you know... clipped, or whatever he said?

Another game, another code, right. But ESO is full of instances where NPCs wander! Take an alchemist NPC in his house/store, he s alive and well. Or trash mobs waiting in dungeons, they busy themselves a bit too, following basic patterns ok but they aren t stuck. Why couldn t shades of our chars, as Mureel said, do the same?

I wish someone was patient enough to try to explain to me how it is different.

Even if I could assign different actions to them, say one char could be reading a book, another filleting fish, another eating from a plate of food etc, would be better than nothing at all.
