I currently play mag temp but considering giving mag dk a go but have some questions.
would my gear transfer across?
How is sustain on mag dk?
are dks fun to play?
my current temp set up is
5 shackle 5 wizards 2 skoria 2 torugs
dw & s/b
5 heavy 1 med 1 light

ATM I would either build a Zaan build or a an anti Zaan build and I don't think DK had the tools to counter Zaan

Ok so I love the Templar toolkit, when the classes isn't bugged af it's great. So it's more of a time of year thing lol.

It's a tough choice, whenever I'm about to say Templar I think of Leap but if that's bugged def Templar

Magplar and DK generally have a really similar setup of gear, but that build is lacking a bit of sustain. It might be possible, though strenuous in light, though in heavy you will need regen/reduction glyphs and atro.

DKs are very good in BGs and duels. High damage potential, both pressure and burst if building for it, good lockdown, and good healing. Mainly focused on ST

But probably one of the worst for openworld with little group support, and awful solo play due to lack of sustain, mobility and a heavy reliance on block (If you are against jabs, or 4ish+ enemies, you need 3k, non recovery stam regen to maintain it, not even including breakfrees/rolls.)

Both are also pretty "support based" players. DKs with tankiness and Magplars with heals. You'll end up blending either of those roles in with your DPS.

I can attest that, even as a light armored DK, you can get some decent damage and tankiness with the right combinations. Currently, I wear a 5l/1m/1h setup with:

5 Innate Axiom
5 Silks of the Sun
2 Valkyn Skoria

Innate Axiom allows me to have a heavy chest and medium legs (though you can go with a medium helm/shoulder). This will give you the highest possible resistances in combination of a nirnhoned shield. ~24k resistances

This combination also buffs the hell out of your class fire-based abilities. I only use class abilities on my setup.

On my front bar, I use SnB and I backbar an Innate Axiom inferno staff.


As for MagPlar-

I consider mine a DarkPlar- because I utilize Dark Flare in PVP combat. With the right CP allocation- you can make your Dark Flare a formidable asset. That, along with powerful heals and fast rezzes help the group.

My DarkPlar's setup is:

5 Soulshine
5 Rattlecage
2 Mighty Chudan

You can actually farm for Rattlecage Arcane jewelry in Vaults of Madness. The arcane jewelry is Gem of Curses and Forbidden Jewels. They both drop from the first boss.

Yeah, but the gear says PvP, so it doesn't matter that much. Mward is on par, but is ranged, so is better on mechanic heavy fights and doesn't take a melee spot.
