I re-read through the (Steam version) thread and I noticed something for the first time. All but one or two people have a different error message than I get. The result is the same (a can't login error message) but the message is different. While the Steam users mostly get an error saying 'unexpected error occurred' (I never got that one), this is how my error message reads:
"Login failed. Your username or password may be incorrect or inactive at this time. If you purchased the game with Steam, please start the game via the Steam client to login."
1 - 2 people said they saw this msg in the other thread.
Any suggestions? If my password is incorrect then I must have either been hacked, or something broke on the game/server, because I've never changed it. I'm extremely hesitant to try changing it now when I'm having problems just logging in. If it doesn't work I'd be afraid of not receiving a new one or something like that. That's exactly what happened to my phone a few weeks ago and it was unfixable. Then I would only know one, and that one definitely would not work after I told it to change it. Either way it would be bizarre if there's really a problem with my password since so many people had a login error at the exact same time as me.
I've redownloaded the game from the account page, and used the launcher to repair it, each several times including just now (Feb 15, 11:30 EST). Restarted computer, made sure to use eso64, tried playing from launcher, even tried playing from the no longer-supported 32 version (eso.exe), all several times (except for the latter, that seems pointless to try more than once). Tried logging in from both servers.
I'm concerned devs have only looked into the issue from a Steam perspective since that's what's mentioned in the 'resolved' Alert.
