Anyone else wish you could turn off combat music?

Sometimes I like wandering around a zone and listening to the music, just exploring, or farming, etc...
Then suddenly a mob comes along and ruins everything with the percussion heavy combat music that seems to kick out the regular soundtrack for a couple minutes even though your encounter with said mob only lasted like 2 light attacks long :/

Really guys, if the combat music wasn't so annoying compared to the rest of the soundtrack, maybe more people would listen to the game music instead of having their own music going in the background.
Now this certainly isn't true for all combat music, for instance boss fights... The music there usually feels spot on, and adds a degree of epicness to the encounter, however I kinda feel like random mobs out in the wild like the odd mudcrab or bandit shouldn't trigger it at all, it just ruins the feel. Like if there was a way to only have combat music play for boss fights, I would be all over that.

The game has a great soundtrack. Just wish I could hear it more often without the constant interruptions.

Sometimes I keep the music on, sometimes I turn it off and put on my own music, sometimes I turn the game music off and just play the ESO soundtrack. It's also amazing to turn off game music and play Skyrim or Fable or Dragon Age music.

I turn the entire music down to none. It's not immersive to me to have music on when I should be hearing the birds etc.

I've been playing ESO for a year now. I disabled the entire music just after a few months of playing because it started to get on my nerves..especially the combat one!!! Now I listen to my stuff. For instance, I like "dolmening" while listening to Black Sabbath :P

Funnily enough, the only music I'd like to keep in the game.. it's this strange ambient in group dungeons .

I always get rid of the combat music in single-player TES games, so yes, I wouldn't mind that option.

Yes! I wish I could do this. I think the combat music is useful for pvp but when I'm questing, I rather just listen to the normal music without interruptions. For skyrim, I downloaded a mod that disabled combat music. I wish I could do the same for eso.

I usually play without music, because the ambient tracks in ESO make me sleep very fast.
Playing nicely when I'm fresh, but really boring when tired and sleepy. Combat music however can stay.

I have had the music off for years in this game...cant stand any of it, does nothing for the way I play. I much prefer to hear things that are important like say...the sound of the cave-in in vCoS when Velidreth drops from the ceiling.

I don't like having redundant combat music either. No matter how good it is - hearing the same tune over and over will eventually get old and repetitive. So having the option to turn it off could and should be an option.

Back when I dabbled in video game design what I did was have the world's soundtrack play continuously during combat though at a faster pace with deeper sounds - which I thought at least was pretty cool. It's amazing the difference adjusting speeds and sounds can have on a single piece of music. Any programmer with some good sound mixer equipment can make a single song sound cool in dozens of different ways. So there is really no need or excuse to have redundant themes play over and over again every time combat starts.

    Never had the desire

I do enjoy the other music more but....I think this lets us know...OH snap, pay attn.

Without it, the game would seem to need some other useful indicators and I'd rather minimize whats on my screen to enjoy the view.

I like the music and enjoy the different soundtracks in each zone. The combat music serves as a warning system that something is going on nearby, especially in IC.

I go into my sound settings and whenever someone is talking on voice chat, my sound is reduced 70%. I get to hear the in-game music/sound AND my friends...

I have the same problem OP has, though I tend to lay the blame at the radically excessive trash mob density, not at the existence of music for combat.

Learn to not be an agro magnet. When I'm farming mats, I can run thorough entire zones without aggroing anything. The only time I do have to fight something is if it's on a node I want to harvest. The shadow rider passive in the DB tree is pretty good for this:

    Shadow Rider:
Aggression radius from hostile monsters is decreased by 50% while mounted.

I can basically almost ride on top of a mob before they even notice I'm there.

I would very much appriciate the option to turn the combat music off. I like to hear the normal soundtrack but every tiny mob can just disrupt it any time and that I don't like.

I agree somewhat. The option to turn off combat music in general would be wonderful. It doesn't have to be situational like bosses only because that seems difficult, but just a checkbox or something just for combat music only. You can turn it back on for a boss fight if you want. There are so many times where I'm killing mobs constantly, the combat music gets crazy redundant, and then I'm forced to turn off the in-game music entirely. I miss it and go to YouTube or something to get it back. It would be nice if I can enjoy it in-game, though - the way it should be intended.

And people saying things like "I didn't know people listened to game music anymore," are ignorant or just trolling because they don't appreciate the artistry of the composer.
