Hello, I have some problem with the thieves guild mechanics:
I entered a doungeon, joined a group that where killing people to get item to sell.
ended up having a bounty of 9k once i exit the doungeon.......
the guards took all the robbed item and all my money.....
so now I have a bounty of 7k, ballance of the experiece: -2k.
can you help me understand how can I rob people without getting a huge bounty. does it help to have particular tipe of armor ? thanks
this time is particularly big but usually I end up with a bounty that doesn't ballance the gold I get. if you kill people with the sword of woe do you get a bounty on your head?
I was told that people can take good money robbing... how can you if you have a sell limit?
thanks

I'm not sure I understand the grouping thing you're talking about but in the TG quests in general, don't get seen and you won't get a bounty. That means using hiding spots and observing NPC patterns to avoid them. The quests aren't easy and I often ended up with a bounty before I got the hang of stealth quests in this game.

IF you get a bounty, you need to avoid guards or use an item to get rid of it. Running anywhere near guards with a big bounty and valuable stolen items is a recipe for disaster. If you get a bounty, it's often best to log off that character until it's expired if you can't avoid guards.

I do the TG Heist daily every day. What I've found to be the most helpful is getting the right gear. I have a stealth gear set that I equip before the quest that gives me a reduced stealth detection radius and faster stealth speed. Makes all the difference in the world.

Finally as to making money with stealing, I've never agreed with people who think it's a good source. Even with max passive skills, most people are going to get under 20k per character and that takes a lot of time. You'd have to keep stealing until you're just fencing greens, blues, and purples and that takes a while.

Considering I get about 1500g per minute by casually farming raw materials, stealing is a very inefficient way to earn gold in comparison.

You get a bounty for stealing (and killing innocents) when NPCs witness your doing so. Try going into sneak before you steal, and make sure the indicator eye on the screen notes 'hidden' before taking anything. If you have potions or abilities that make you invisible that can also help greatly. :)

Bounties can be paid off in outlaw refuges, which will be present in most major cities. I recommend going on a stealing spree in Vivec City as that outlaw refuge is connected to one of the cantons, and that canton also has one of those thieves guild basket thingies you can hide in. Makes it a whole lot easier if you're just getting into things.

Stealing is most useful for recipes (provisioning and furniture) and sometimes motifs. Though I rarely find motifs from places I steal from. All of my characters are thieves, it is a matter of watching, waiting and hiding but I agree, you are not going to make a lot of money from items you steal.

    Alright.

Tips for not getting a bounty:
Gear: I like Night Mother's Embrace (5-piece, drops in Deshaan) and Night Terror (3-piece, drops in Stormhaven) for the set bonus that reduces the range at which I can be detected. Some people prefer to increase their stealth speed.
Get those legerdemain, Thieves Guild, and Dark Brotherhood passives as soon as possible
Do the Tip Board short thieving quests for Kari as much as possible in the beginning to build up a supply of Counterfeit pardons. The Covetess Countess and the safeboxes were the easiest for me to do without being spotted.
Situational Awareness: Don't steal or Blade of Woe where you think an NPC can see you. Don't steal or Blade of Woe while a guard is walking by. Observe the guard patrols and keep an eye out for places you can hide in if the guard comes strolling by while you have a bounty. If you are spotted stealing or killing with the blade of woe, you will get a bounty.

Tips for making money off thieving and murdering:
You really want the passive that gets you up to 140 fenced items a day. You can destroy any white items and only sell green and higher quality items, for around 14k a day. The passive that increases the value of sold items is nice too. Whether that's worth the effort or not is up to you.
Safeboxes and containers. Containers in NPC housing have the chance to have decent stolen loot and are often easier to get into than pickpocketing and stabbing. Go to places with lots of containers, shelves, desks, and wardrobes and loot everything of value while the inhabitants aren't looking.
Pick, pick, stab. Most NPCs have only 3 items of value. Pickpocket twice, then Blade of Woe them to get the final item without risking the lower pickpocket chance the final time.
Pick, then wait for someone else to stab. If you pickpocket someone and you know that other murderers are around, you can get rest of the NPC's loot when someone else murders the NPC.
Certain NPCs have a chance to drop motifs, recipes, furnishings, furnishing plans, and other valuable items that can be sold to players.
