It's still free outside of the outfitting system.

really? thanks to that i might have jump the gun there, i may have overlook it cause the first thing i saw in the new outfit station is that dye costs gold so i may have panic a little lol

If it's just your normal gear or a costume no. If it's a costume made outfit using the outfitting system then it does cost gold. People have been having this discussion for a month now. This is not new info

I am an ESO+ member and I know it used to be free but now when I got to a dye station and choose colours for armour I have to pay around 4000 gold, wasn't this free before? It certainly was for costumes and it appears costumes are still free. Are we now paying for different colours on armour?

Dying costumes is still free for eso+. Outfit utilities are a different category no matter what (dying or just changing/choosing motif style) you pay.

    Outfit does not equal costume.

Dying armor and (for ESO+ members) costumes is still free. You just have to play with the settings on the outfit stations.

so what I gather here is that outfit colors still cost gold and if im going to dye the outfits itll cost me gold... why didnt they just make the dyes free? so if i want to dye my outfits ill be more certain about it since dyeing almost every piece will cost 3750g, i havent checked yet if dye differs in gold depending on their rarity... so much for that i guess

Dyeing your crafted/dropped armor and shields is still free for everyone.
Dyeing your costumes is still free for ESO+ members and requires dye packs for anyone else.
Dyeing your crafted/dropped weapons still can't be done.

Dyeing your outfit armor and weapons costs gold through the outfit system.

It's called a gold sink, trying to drain some of the gold out of the game. They introduced a completely new system and decided you should have to use a bit of gold to use it. I would rather have the outfit stations and have them cost gold, rather than going back to no outfits

and majority of the playerbase outside of the traders community doesnt have much gold to sink... some cant even barely get past 20k per week

It does not cost you to dye No Outfit dropped or crafted armor, and shields. You can also dye costumes free if you are an ESO plus subscriber. The cost comes in to dye weapons and Outfits when using the Outfit option.

I have to disagree with the weapons charges especially if they are dropped or crafted. They should be free also. But if you notice there is no option to do weapons in the No Outfit option.

This just another of ZOS's annoying brainy ideas.

Just clarifying information to make it easy to read as there seems to be a big misconception regarding gold costs for outfits and dyeing.

It does NOT cost gold to transmute to Imperial or Morag Tong if you had Imperial Edition or Morrowind Collector's Edition before.
It does NOT cost gold to dye your armor AS LONG AS you have "No Outfit" selected.
It does NOT cost gold to dye unlocked costumes if you have ESO+.

If you have "Outfit 1" selected while you are at the outfit station then you WILL be charged gold to dye your armor because you are creating and changing an outfit instead of your normal equipped items. This is true even if you just dye your armor without changing the style. It is important to make sure you have the correct option selected.

I play on XBOX and I'd like to know:

How much Vouchers are needed to buy an Outfit Station?

Is the old Dye station still sold at 35 Vouchers?

    Thanks

The old dye station will be changed to an outfit station. No need to buy a new one

Yea, both the old Dye station and the new one have the exact same functionality, the old cost 35 vouchers the new costs 500 and the only difference is their appearance..

    You can dye weapons. However...

They can only be dyed as an outfit. So to dye your weapons, you're going to have to burn up an outfit slot to do so.

Yea, both the old Dye station and the new one have the exact same functionality, the old cost 35 vouchers the new costs 500 and the only difference is their appearance..

So after the patch players can still buy Dye stations at 35 Vouchers with full functionality (Dye + Outfit)

So ZOS added a new stations that costs 15 times more and the only differences are aesthetical?
