Mag Sorc vs Mag Sorc Pet Build

LillyFee

Which do you find most enjoyable to play and which do you prefer in trials? Don't tend to see pet builds in trials, is this due to pets causing lag?
Never actually stuck with a mag sorc to level but now is the time! Always prefered stamia characters

Pets can either cause wipes due to the mechanics or die to the boss attacks rendering them useless. This is often applicable in vet trials only.

I switched to a ranged Magplar due to the pet issue, I prefer a Magplar over a non-pet Magsorc. I do prefer a pet MagSorc over a non-pet one though, they make vMA extremely easy.

There's only a couple of fights in vet trials where a pet is a problem, most of them are fine. And if you can use a scamp then you will get higher damage... so pretty simple choice :)

I just started leveling a magsorc ~lvl19 now. Having both pets up makes the rotations a little simpler as they take up four slots if you don't want them to disappear when you change bars (6 if you use summoned armor). I solo alot of the content so they help with taking agro away on top of providing there own damage and heals depending on the morphs you pick. I do enjoy the gameplay without the pets and i feel like you can achieve more flexibility without them, but so far just leveling PVE they are great. I can't speak for the trials as i haven't gotten there yet

Just make sure if you go to a vet trial where there is a fight that kills your pets you have both the required gear, rotation and skills for a non-pet set up.

I've seen 40k+ dps pet sorcs do just 20k dps without their pets because they weren't fully prepared. That's a big deal, especially on vAA HM.

dmg difference is actually pretty small, like 1 to 2k dps between pet and non pet. pet does offer good cleave though

its annoying when it dies to certain mechanics or draws in mechanics that can kill other players

which is why i switched to magblade, much stronger single target, no dam pet to put up with, good off heals, soul harvest for lots of major slayer
