Does it bother anyone else that there is no space above Eastmarch for Winterhold?

Hey no worries. Maps change. The Vvardenfell map changed slightly when Morrowind was released

Or that Skuldafn is on the map where Blacklight should approximately be.

World map zoomed in shows a peninsula north of Windhelm where it looks like it could fit. The Eastmarch map just doesn't include it.
"Never go in, miss. Never say a prayer at its door. If you are angry, do not seek revenge by the Laughing Maiden Stone, or at the threshold of the Tombs. There be those who listen for oaths and vows...What may be said in innocence and ire becomes flesh and blood in such places."

Looking at it there is still space.... probably for a hews bane / gold coast kind of size area, so not huge, but perfect for a DLC.

I hope so anyway... this is the area I want to go back to most, and see how different it is in this part of the timeline (Think it hasn't fallen into the sea of ghosts at this stage, but happy to be corrected if I'm wrong).

Yeah I guess it would depend on how big ZoS would want to make the zone, like they could just scoot Eastmarch down a tad or something like that.

This game suffers from "You Cannot Go That Way" Syndrome worse than Skyrim did. In terms of scale Winterhold is just a brisk walk north from Windhelm.

Solstheims placement always bothered me. Like after they made Bleakrock and how messed up Eastmarches position is they realised that they needed to add it and just decided to stick it where it would fit and sort it out later

Winterhold is a tiny place, anyway. Mostly mountains. Were it not for those mountains, Windhelm and Winterhold could have snowball fights without either having to leave the city. Well, maybe not that close, but Dawnstar, Winterhold, and Windhelm are practically on top of each other, compared to the main cities in the other holds.

But, yeah, it looks like Eastmarch goes all the way up to the top of Skyrim. We know it doesn't. They know it doesn't. If they add Winterhold, I am sure that the map will be updated accordingly. Might be an early clue that they are doing that, so watch for it.

Nope. Red mountain erupts and most of Winterhold falls into the sea. Nords blame the mages.

ESO takes place before everything that happened around the eruption of Red Mountain, and Winterhold was said to be a pretty sizable city before most of it collapsed into the sea in the 4th Era.

Winterhold is the name of the region, and the city. I was referring to the region in the first sentence, the city in the third.
