3rd person camera pans way out after disengaging from npc

Title says most of it.
Issue is when I interact with an npc, such as a guild trader merchant or banker, when I disengage the 3rd person camera point of view is zoomed all the way out and slowly creeps back in until it stops at my preferred setting.
I haven't noticed this with overland quest givers or my own assistants. And, it doesn't happen all the time. Not a major inconvenience, but it is something that just started happening within the last month or so.
