New class ideas for Zenimax to come up with?

  • SentinelRose
I'd like to share my thoughts on this topic.

First off on some classes I could see a solid 10 in the game that are completely unique. I'm not going to give these things any names and go deep into abilities and lore heavily.

So here we go, the first class is one that was shown in one of the first trailers as well as summer set trailer. The green magic chick. Actually known as mysticism magic from oblivion but obviously amped up. Telekinesis and dome shield. All derived from mysticism. Some folks think this was a warden or sorc first to be but it's totally not. The necro was shown in the same trailer I believe or the one after and its the same npc in the new trailer.

So even just thinking mysticism you already know it has full dps and tanking potential easily. While issuing a 1h and magic skill line. These 2 alone are very likely to happen given the trailers, player request, lore and past games.

2nd one would be a total warrior based class. Easy tank and dps line. You might wonder how magic would happen but just remember bound weapons but amped.up for this game. Anyone remember the greatsword spell from dark souls 3? Just picture arcane warrior style magic in short. While also issuing a halberd weapon style. I think this class should happen. Half of it is backed by lore and past games while the other is new but not too far off like bard, witch, engineer etc. These aren't things that actually impacted elder scrolls enough to actually make a whole class for let alone a skill line to be honest.

Lastly I'd add a daedric class, cause there's already a aedric based one already. While issuing another race like the snow elves aka falmer if they lost their minds like in skyrim.

10th class that solely is good at healing and tanking. Stamina and magicka.

Not every class should be able to dps magic and stamina while also tanking and healing. Its causing less classes to come out and have uniqueness and causing certain roles to suffer, well already has. Big one is just how they made classes in general though some things are great about them but the rest really isn't.

I know this has stretched and thinking about balance, fun and good looks and class identity is a nuke in your mind for good ideas but also is a lot of work. I wouldnt have made classes the way they did. I wish it were all made a little different. And apologies for the rant.

Since the Nightblade class got removed from the game can we have:

    StealthRogue....

Adventurers and opportunists with a gift for getting in and out of trouble. Relying variously on stealth, blades and speed, they thrive on conflict and misfortune trusting to their luck and cunning to survive.
At least the spelling is difficult for you.

i think thered be room for a bard class that combines the bard, acrobat, swashbuckler, agent kinda archetypes from other elder scrolls games...

like a chaotic good scoundrel type of class/character...

I’d rather they fixed the current classes 1st but I don’t believe they even have a clue how to do that from what I’ve seen so far.

New class the "Techromancer" he has a skill called "Downtime" that takes the server offline, he has a passive called "stable performance" that only unlocks at CP2000 and the passive only lasts for 30 minutes of play time

I’d rather just see more skill lines added to game instead of new classes. Hand to hand, pole arms, one hand/rune and other skill trees that our existing characters could use.

We have new Fire Adept NPCs that are basically fireball throwing monks. That would be a neat class or set of skill lines to explore.

Alteration mage + green coil spell in cinematic trailer.

Coil as spammable, magical shard cyclone as aoe(skeleton, beetles; all classes have this kind), shield skill in form of %50 resistance untill X amount of damage taken, a buff skill, pull+stun skill(stun at melee, pull in max range). Ult: Alteration mastery, makes you immune to everything for 1 second and your next alteration skill will be super powerfull within 5 seconds. 200 ult cost.

    Ult upgrades:
    Coil: bit weaker incap
Shards: bit weaker eye of the storm
Shield: the barrier ult that based on 50% redistance. 50% thing make it feel bit weaker
Buff: put half of the buffs in game on you. Equivalent to corrosive armor but this will feel bit weaker.
Pull: aoe pull or stun depending on range

Ults will be bit weaker to originals but you have insane flexibity. Thats the compansation.

Edit: this is summary. I didnt want to post wall of text for my custom class skill tree. This wont be very hard to balance because this design is actualy lazy and it's balance relies on other skills. If you balance them, this will be balanced too.

Fix existing ones before adding new classes, which only goes to create more problems. Every new class means existing ones will receive less and less attention.

I've said it a year ago, still the case.

How about... Polearms & spears melee hybrid weapon skill line (for both mag & stam) instead ? ;)
Whatever would make you think polearms should be a -hybrid- skill line in the divines names???
I mean, a polearm is pure stamina, just like a sword, or an axe, or an bow... its pure musclepower driving edged steel into your enemies squishy parts to let out the red stuff!

IF we want to talk "hybrid skill line", we would have to go elsewhere, and look at something like "One-handed and Magic" in a spellsword style "fight physically with the sword in your one hand and magically with the spells from your other hand"...

And of course, as I mentioned in an earlier post... been there, posted that: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/371862/additional-weapon-skill-ideas-mk-ii/p1 ;)

Templars use polearms so the idea is not far from hybrid but then again it would harm the Templar class identity if suddenly any class can wield a polearm

IMO Bard and Monk are the pretty much the last truly interesting class ideas.

A mag Bard with a flock of ethereal, conjured instruments (like Morkuldin's sword) following him around and playing real DOT/HOT/buff music (AOE aura-type effects centered on the instrument) would be amazing. And the stam morphs could be ground-placed (like Ballista or Trap) instruments (think, drums, vossa-satl, etc) instead of floating and ethereal. This has amazing potential for a Solitude-based Chapter.

Monk would bring some great aesthetics with the game's first hand-to-hand combat abilities. This would be the best way to introduce the Quarterstaff, as the Monk's tanking class skill line rather than a weapon line.

I really don't want to see either of these anytime soon though. I'm much more interested in new skill lines for existing characters. I'd prefer to see a Spellsword weapon line (Sword and Rune, or whatever), Alteration staff tanking, and Frost staff reverted to DPS before they do any new classes.

    Class.
    Skill Lines.

Skill lines will never be interesting or strong because any class can utilize them without any restrictions, not even up to weapon or armor choice, meaning they will need to be weak to keep the balance in check.

Or you'll end up with a game where literally everybody is using the same few abilities. Soul trap dot anyone?

    Spear -> Stamina
Combat staff (mystic monk style weapon) -> Magicka

I understand that, but following that logic, NB are already "harmed" since they have grim focus bow proc (any class can use bow) and Surprises attack - dagger / short sword swing (any class can use daggers).

IMO there are 2 options for next class (the last class).

    1. illusionist will be the next class 90%. this class fits to ESO universe perfectly. I say it will be released at Q2 2021 with 5th chapter.

    2. Bard: This can be either class or new weapon skill line with instruments like harp, flute etc. As a new skill line instead of class it may come at Q2 2020 with 4th chapter.

I don't think there will be other class types like barbarian, monk etc. maybe spellsword can be new weapon skill line but not the others.
