Upcoming Outfit System - I have all the hype

Ok, so I was browsing the forums and took a look in the PTS category. I found this thread where people are showing off some of their costume creations.

I am so stoked over this.

No, "Transmog" isn't coming about quite the way I'd imagined it. Yes, I've ready the gripey doom and gloom posts and I've seen the negative criticisms about the system we haven't even seen on the live servers yet. I don't care. I am seriously excited about the possibilities this creates for us. I want ALL the motifs on my main crafter now so I can have full flexibility and customization of every character.

My only negative prediction is that Crown Store Exclusive outfits will become a thing.

In all other ways I am super excited over what is already being done by those over on the public test server and I'm really eager to see how people customize/individualize/personalize their characters after Update 17 goes live.

Ok, I'm scratching my head on the bolded part... since 'outfits' are custom made by players, it wouldn't make ANY sense to have any 'Crown Store Exclusive' outfits... if it were it would be a COSTUME, which we already have in the Crown Store.

While I see your point, I just have a sneaky suspicion they will find a way to do it. I dunno. I might be paranoid. The marketing approach and super-focus of Crown Store items (instead of game improvements) has jaded me a bit. I am thrilled about what we already see coming with Outfits. I just have my fingers crossed that they won't find a way to monetize it beyond charging us for additional outfit slots.

Don't see it happening as they will already be selling outfit tokens, additional outfit slots that you'll have to buy for each character and will still be releasing costumes. Custom outfits would be unnecessary

I'm super excitted too. Esentially creating my own costumes is fantastic. However, and correct me if wrong, but I havent seen armor that looks like the Sandkissed salwar, or Graht-climers active wear yet.

    Two points to add.

There will be a space for both crown store costumes and special armor styles- some folks wont pay to create there own. Others like the easy vanity of the costumes.

The other point is that some people dont want to do the farming of any sort to obtain all the motif pieces to unlock the style so they either buy them from traders, guildmates or the crown store depending on difficulty and cost to obtain the motif page.

I hope it means that Crown Store costumes will become more elaborate/detailed and more definitively casual looking. You know, like the examples you used, that they’ll be items we cannot create by mixing and matching armor styles.

Also, I'm happy for all the "give us more armor choices in the Crown Store" crowd. The Outfit system should make them all very happy.

ALSO this allows ZOS to create unique costumes that can't be replicated with existing motifs.
Like the Alliance War Hero costumes, Warden costume, wedding outfits, citizen clothing, etc.

I think you are saying what I was trying to allude to in my initial post. I envision ZOS throwing something like, I dunno, "Shoulder Motif, Feathered" into The Crown Store. If you buy it, you can create an Outfit with arm cops that have a texture otherwise completely unavailable in the game. It would not be a full costume, but it would be a component to the Outfit system that will allow for further customization - and monetization.

Will they do it? I don't know that. Would it make money? Most likely.

Well they have kind of done this already, haven't they? With the Frostcaster and Grim Harlequin motif. Crownstore only and limited editions. You can use these in your costumes only if you bought them.

But yeah, I'm really hyped. >.>

    @Incognitius:

Yes, in that sense they have done that with Crown Store Exclusive motifs. The difference being that those were full motifs available for purchase and obtainable no other way. What I'm saying I think we may see is the addition of individual slot motif items available for purchase - motifs that would be available as exclusives to the Outfit system.

It could just as easily not happen and I'd be great with that.

Regardless, the point of my original post was to express how excited I am about what we know is coming with Update 17. The potential negatives are merely possibilities and I'm really just not a salty enough player to focus and dwell on those negatives until they come our way.

I'm glad to see others are excited about this new addition to ESO. If you've not seen some of the PTS outfit creations yet, definitely go check out the PTS thread from the original post. Some of them are really fantastic.

Like this one for example. Just really loving how weapons look with colors that make them look real.

Crown store exclusive outfits? You mean like anything involving Grim Harlequin and Stalhrim Frostcaster?

@PetiteFire - Dont we all spend too much at at the dye stations? LOL.

@VoodooPlatypus - I think your idea of Shoulders, feathered is both hilarious and oddly enough, Id have fun messing around making a bird outfit. But I dont necessarily see then making random parts to add to the system. Although a Hawk beak helm or tail feather breaches would be a laughable addition to the shoulder motif

    Oh the possibilities

SO MUCH HYPE! I just wish I'd bought the Grim Harlequin motif when it was last up for grabs -- it would be a perfect fit for my vamp Dunmer, who currently wears the elven hero costume. Didn't buy it when I had the chance, as I don't use any crafted gear on her. @ZOS_GinaBruno, any chance the team would consider offering up all the crown store exclusive motifs for a limited time (say two days or a week) when the update hits, to celebrate the launch of the outfitting system? ;)

I would love it if they’d do that. I have NO special motifs at all on the NA server and I’ve recently begun playing over there so a brief “to celebrate creativity” sale on those store exclusives would be awesome.

This. So many awesome weapon styles totally ruined by that awful shade, can't believe will be gone. At last.
