Kinda surprised no one has asked this yet - outfit system weapon style

The issues have been resolved, and the ESO Store and Account System are now available. Thank you for your patience!

If you have one outfit slot and you add a weapon style, say, level 30 barbaric axe or cp 90 telvanni shield, what happens when what you're holding isn't one of those weapon types.

For instance, does the "style" selection always overlay the motif, regardless of whether you happen to be holding a bow or a sword? While the "weapon type" bit (say, daggers or maces or whatnot) overlays only if that particular weapon type is held?

What if you have a different set of weapons on the backbar. Say you have a staff in front, a bow in back. Are there front and back style slots?

If you have sword and board on both back and front can you alter one shield's motif, and leave the other one you like alone?

Just wondering. Changing weapon types seems silly to me, whereas the mere ability to preview all of these variations seems amazingly well implemented and I was incredibly impressed by that part of the UX. I thought back to ESO Live and can't believe no one mentioned these possibilities.

I'm okay with it. My greatsword will now shoot fireballs.

Also wondering this. Someone asked if a staff could be outfitted to look like a bow. Im honestly hoping not. I hate to pull the pvp deal, but identifying your enemys gear is a big part of fighting. Bows that act like staves, staves that act like 2H swords. I hope this won’t be the case. Even when it comes to pug dungeons, someone looks like they’re running dw but turns out they’re trying to dps with a SB. Or has a staff but turns out they’re dpsing with a bow and so on.

What I remember from the Live, was the outfit will adapt weapons within their type. So a dagger outfitted could overwrite a sword, but bows will only affect bows, staves and staves etc.

Costumes have been removing the armor aspect for a while. Adding weapons to the list of things you can hide really won't change much. If you see the enemy shielding, they're probably magicka specced. Which color of staff they use doesn't matter. If you notice you're dying more than 5 feet away from them, they probably have a bow. Animations can identify this stuff for us.

pretty sure they said you can't change weapon type

so you can outfit weapons thats already nice - can you also dye the base weapon or basically that works through dyeing the outfit weapon?

A 1h axe can be changed to a 1h sword, so I think people are just wondering what defines “type.” Logically it’s DW, SB, Staff, Bow, 2H aka the skill lines.

I asked about this in another thread, although I don't think I was really understood... I'm glad you get what I was thinking!

"What if I have S&B on main bar and 2H on back and save that outfit style, then I swap the 2H for a Staff - would I need to create another outfit or edit the current one? I watched most of the stream but couldn't tell if you select all possible slot types while creating the outfit or just for the types equipped. " HERE

"I get that. But what I'm asking is - if I change a weapon type in a slot (2H to Stave, 2H to S&B, etc), would the new weapon in slot also have the style selected if it's different than the type/family selected for the original slot? " HERE
