Good set to pair with automaton for stam sorc? (PvE)

Title pretty much says it all,
I'm considering spriggan or hunding with automaton and stormfist for pve, would appreciate any input.
Trial sets aren't really an option as i rarely have time to run them.

You inadvertently nailed down what you could use already.

    my stam sorc uses this...

    Hundings - 2 daggers, 3 body(should be nirn/poison + precise/weapon dmg on daggers, stam on body)
Spriggans - 3 jewelry, 2 body (weapon damage enchants on jewelry, stam on body)
    stormfist monster set (stam enchants)
back bar Maelstrom bow (nirn with poison potions)

I broke 33k last night on the dummy and i'm sure it can get higher with some optimizing. my weapon traits are not BiS (mine are both precise) and none of my gear is gold except weapons.

If you're really wanting to use automaton... then sub that in for hundings above and it will probably do decent.

They will likely equal out to similar dps...
Only reason hundings could be higher is that it adds a flat value of 299 weapon damage while automaton only adds 400 weapon damage to PHYSICAL abilities. Most of your abilities should be physical anyway... so it could actually be beneficial.

The only problem with automaton is farming the weapons. If you're lucky enough to get 2 daggers for your front bar... go for it!

In a raid with some one else providing Night mother's gaze and Sunderflame I use automaton, VO and Stormfist. With comparable penetration on the target dummy results are 40-42k. Don't use hundings weapons if you have access to better ones. VO weapons are a pain to get, this is with a Vo axe and dagger. If you want to go full into DPS, automaton and Briarheart. The target dummy test won't represent what you'll do in a raid, it will be much higher.

If doing dungeons, or VMA then use 5 TFS and 5VO if you have VO weapons. If not then use 5 VO and something else.

All Stamsorc abilities except poison arrow are physical damage. And yes before anyone asks Automaton is buffed by Major Brutality etc.

Hey @Mister_DMC since the pronoun "it" refers to the subject of the sentence, the target dummy test, you're saying I'll do more damage against the target dummy and less in a raid? Reading between the lines, and making some assumptions from the context of your post, I'm not entirely sure if that's what you meant. Can you clarify? Thanks.

    opposite of what you thought...
You will have no raid buffs when doing the dummy test. This = less dps.
In a raid you have plenty of buffs... SPC, warhorn, etc. This = much more dps.

    Hundings - 2 daggers, 3 body(should be infused/poison + nirn/weapon dmg on daggers, stam on body)

Just gonna point out that running a nirnhorned offhand weapon raises your weapon dmg only by 36. Wouldn't it be more benefical to run sharpened offhand, if you want to have an infused mainhand? At least if he is not overpenetrating in group content.

Otherwise, nirnhorned on mainhand grants you full 200 weapon dmg but I don't know if infused offhand is a good idea either.

Nirn maimhand precise or infused offhand depending on ur race.

Go with Night Mother's Gaze, it's easy to craft or buy, and combines nicely with Automaton. Stam Sorc is the best class for NMG since hurricane will proc it on all enemies around (compared to stamDK which is more single target). NMG is almost as effective as Spriggans when solo, and it's much better in a group with other Stam DPS. Try to get a friend to use Sunderflame and you'll both get about 6k penetration from the 2 sets combined.

If you want to use a monster set, NMG is not bad with dual wield weapons being the 4th and 5th piece, it lasts 5 seconds after proc and you'll normally only be on your bow bar for 3-4 so almost no effect on uptime.

My bad... was mixing build/traits with something else. I think i was confusing a mag set up... infused front bar with nirn back bar.

Yes nirn main hand and precise offhand.

My daggers are both precise right now anyway. Just what i had golded from long time ago. Going to remake or trait change them.
What i don't know.. is if nirn is better than infused for mainhand. nirn adds 200 WD but infused could make your poison proc twice during your rotation and for more damage each time.
    Anyone know which one wins?

Depends on what you want to do...

If you are running 4 man dungeons with a friend who is also on a Stamina build then one of you can get Sunderflame and the other get Night Mother's Gaze and your combined penetration de-buffs will help you both maximize DPS.

If you are running with a Magicka DD then Spriggan or Hundings is fine, but I would actually still lean towards Night Mother's Gaze because the 5 piece bonus will last for 6 seconds and is plenty of time for you to get your back-bar DoTs off before switching back to your front bar and re-applying the de-buff.

Also, Night Mother's Gaze and Hundings have 2 Crit bonuses which means you get more healing from crit surge if you are running those than you will with Spriggan.
    Playing since beta...

    Yes!

Automaton will bust only physical damage.
You might have other damage sources on your bar like Poison Injection (its poison damage)
Also Rally and Vigor heals won't be buffed up with Automaton -if you plan to do VMA for example you will be gimped with Automaton set.

By "It" I meant your DPS. Your DPS output will be higher in a raid group and lower on the target skeleton due to a lack of full penetration. Penetration is about group organization.

You don't need a lot of time. You can get it in 2-3 hours doing normal Craglorn trials.
