    It is currently just a cermenonial rank that indicates that those members were veterans (from the beginning). However since you and the other veteran Merchants got a free upgrade you will never have to pay dues to stay merchant if we ever need to take dues to pay for the trader. The stipulation is you must be active in the guild store or you could lose your veteran status and may have to pay dues when you return.
