Dearest chub loon... I missed you again...

Thursday night: I read on the forums with great excitement about the return of the Storm Atronach crates. At last! I can acquire my cute little chub loon. I imagined our adventures together -
paddling with flocks of chub loons on the icy shores of Wrothgar, fishing in the frozen lakes of Eastmarch, hiding from the inattentive guards in Vvardenfell... we'd have such fun together, my chub loon and I.

I planned my weekend... Saturday morning, a lovely steaming cup of coffee, some marmite on toast...and a few stacks of atronach crates with my adorable chub loon nestled inside...

WAIT, WHAT? No Atronach crates? I missed it? It was only on for FOUR days... MIDWEEK??

Weekdays I'm working long, tiring hours, amassing funds to buy lovely things such as appealing pets, spectacular mounts and striking costumes. Why else would I work myself into the ground if not for these tempting goodies?

Please ZOS, consider running promotions such as this for at least 7 days in order to encompass the weekend.

I am sorely disappointed to have missed my dear chub loon yet again. Will I get another chance?

sorry you missed it. i actually got one, this time. it was the one thing i really wanted, and missed getting, the first time around.

i totally agree with your main point; the promotion should last at least a week.

They don't actually care that players are able to get what they want. All they care about is making everything limited time in an attempt to make people log in every day for fear of missing something. At least that's my theory, since they're now doing limited time crown store items every month.

I want the chub loon, too, but I guess that's not going to happen for me, either.

Hate to say it, but yup. I think the limited time deals are also used to create a sense of urgency. No time to wait for a sale or your next batch of sub crowns! You have to spend more money NOW!! Anyway these kind of decisions are made by the bankers.

Even if you got the crates there was a chance you wouldn't get it. From what I gathered you could get what you wanted using gems from them.

The animation for the Chub Loon is one of the best. Sometimes he jumps up and flaps his wings at the funniest times!...oops what I meant to say was sorry you didn't get one...

Chub Loon was the ONLY reason I bought the damned crates when it was first available.
Luckily I was able to get my precious Chub Loon for my main.

Sorry OP you were not able to get your's this time...

But count yourself lucky. Even though I got what I wanted...buying those crates still makes me feel a bit dirty

What's really sad is how little time they brought them back for. .00008 seconds and they're gone. Great marketing !

I don't check the store everyday because I'd rather actually be playing the game than buying crap. I did want to get in on those limited time wild hunt crates, but didn't see them. Arw they gone now/did they come?

Why not put them in for a week and announce it like normal people .

I can't believe they didn't run this including a weekend. I know people who can't play at ALL during the week and HAVE to wait until weekends, and as the USA runs on a workweek standard I would expect that is the majority. Who dropped the ball on this, ZOS?! Good grief. It's like you don't WANT our money.

I have wanted this pet since I started playing and as the OP, I usually only play on the weekends as I'm busy during the week.

A 7 day promotion would be the smarter choice as surely it would equate to larger sales?

I wanted the chub loon too, but you couldn't use gems this time around. Theoretically you could spend a couple hundred dollars and still not get it.

Time limited offers works a bit different, what you say is true but most important part of "time limited" goods is that it builds in people feeling like "oh I have to buy it now or I may never get it" otherwise we all would save crowns for half of a year and then we would buy what we want. Now you buy more crowns to get what you want before time lapses, then they throw some new items to store and there we go again. It wont change just like war War never changes

I, too, have wanted a chub loon ever since I first saw one! Finding out they were in the crates was disappointing to me. I'm sorry you missed your chance to try for one though. They are indeed adorable!

Honestly though maybe they should consider a method to buy crates on eso account page. You aren't the only one I heard with issue. It's a lose of profits not having a method to buy them. Let people buy them and open later when they can login.

You can actually contact support to help you purchase an item currently for sale if you can't log into the game yourself. They did say on the front page when the Storm Crates would be available, however.

I've missed buying a lot of things that I would have otherwise definitely spent money on if they had just been available for a little bit longer. I don't understand why they insist on keeping to this policy of only having limited things up for a few days at a time.. I've never seen an MMO do this, and I can't imagine that they are making more money than they are losing by doing it.

Thanks all for your replies and chub loon appreciation I'm glad I'm not the only one who fails to see the point in offering something for sale midweek when most people are working.

Hopefully the marketing people will see these posts and re-consider their strategies.

As for the chub loon, I'll be waiting with patience as well. Weekends are where I can dedicate my gaming time the most, so week sales are a no go for me.

True, know I grabbed two things because of limited, one was the werewolf lord I have never used, second was the Azura statue as she is my favorite Daedra.
But lost out a lot during my long break from eso and has 10K crowns on my account. Now I play every day if only to feed horses and handle business.
however how many are just weekend players? you can be an whale and weekend player too.
Having an back room with old stuff at far higher prices as in 3K crown and up would be an good compromise, you can get it but getting it for 700 rater than 3K is an huge benefit.
