Viability of a full defensive support off tank?

Hello, I was curious about the benefits of having a support tank (defensive buffs) as the off tank of a team.

Most trials run a main tank (ebon and dragon/alkosh and bloodspawn) and an off tank (ebon + torugs/dragon + blood spawn)

What I was thinking was could I run a tank made for increasing the defensive capabilities of a group?

Such as using sets such as redistributer/lunar bastion, meritorious and troll king. Pushing my mag regen high so I can offer purges to the group and increase defense. As a warden I could use trees for my cheap ult or shields from support ult.

Would I be wanted in a group with this kind of setup?

I alway felt that was the healers job.
Almost all the BIS setups in the game are very offensive and assume your allies are using thier own skills to stay alive. With the exception of ebon of course. otherwise its all about increasing group damage not trying to keep them alive.

I have a heal tank with huge mag regen I use just for dungeons so I think it works... but in trials eh.

Kinda what I was thinking after posting. Assuming everyone is doing their job there isn't a need for the extra defense. Guess back to the drawing board. I really do think I will end up getting better regen though. Extra purges to the group help everyone. But I could do that while still running stuff like war machine etc.
