Do you want ZOS to do something about Fake Tanks

No, I'm so good it doesn't make a difference.

Because there is a difference between incompetence and fraud.

You can't prove these fake tank aren't incompetent.

When someone literally doesn't have a taunt or skill point to unlock a taunt, then they're without a doubt a fake tank.

Someone who's just DPSing then taunting bosses, is just a half tank.

and incompetent tank is a tank that lets big adds and bosses aggro healer and dps.

The best solution is to make tanks actually fun, so people will play them.

My healer puts out 8-10k dps pretty easily. My tank... HAHAHAHA. Oh man, he is useless.

Everyone (at least those with OP's POV) think its "FAKE" tanks, did we ever consider that its NEW tanks, or a new person all together? Even if they have high CP, Shywatch runs don't teach you anything about your build. Maybe they don't know what they are doing? I know there are those that queue as a Tank to bypass the wait but to insinuate that it is so bad that ZOS get involved is insane. If they are new, help them, if they are bad, give them some role/gear advice, it all of that is too much for you get a guild or friends and stop using Activity Finder. PUGS are random by design, use it and live with the results or don't.

    Amen!

Much more annoying than a poor tank are self-impressed pin wits who think they are god's gift to the game and start typing insults to badger people mid-run or kick someone without a word. Though I can respectfully lay about 50k dps on a mob and can do decent damage to bosses, I've been kicked by a few of these meatheads at the final boss simply because I was new to a dungeon and didn't immediately understand the boss mechanics. Or maybe their pizza was getting cold. Who the hell knows. If you don't have the patience and don''t want to deal with the results of random pugs, just shut up and put your own group together.

I don’t have this problem, simply because I have a real Tank. “Not my Tank, Not my problem!”

Hmm. What to do, what to do.

I am going to reference a particular episode of "Yes, Minister" on the question of whether a player ought to do anything if said player suddenly finds themselves in the presence of a so-called fake tank. Specifically, the six options are:

    - Do nothing.
    - Issue a statement in group chat deploring the fake tank.
    - Lodge an official complaint to ZOS about the fake tank.
    - Refuse to continue the run until the fake tank leaves.
    - Leave the group.
    - Physically track the fake tank down IRL.

The consequences of each of the six, of course, are as follows:

    - If one does nothing, one implicitly supports the fake tank.
    - If one complains in group chat, the complaint will likely be ignored.
    - If one lodges an official complaint to ZOS, one will look foolish and the complaint will be ignored.
    - One's run might not finish.
    - One's run definitely will not finish.
    - This just might be an over-reaction.

    Choose your poison...

Incompetence in a tank is pretty easy to spot. Are you taunting? Do you know the mechanics? Crowd control? Wildly kiting the boss? Losing aggro?

Incompetence in a tank combined with high DPS and a "what? its a normal!" attitude is a fake tank, not incompetence. Well, actually, it is incompetence. Its an deliberately incompetent "tank" thinking that high DPS is somehow compensation for the lack of someone doing the job of keeping the boss out of my healer's face. But its not a new player making noob mistakes and its pretty easy to tell the differences.

When my healer has to heal, DPS, and buff a bunch of random group members, and hold boss aggro, someone's getting carried in that dungeon and it isn't me.

What I mean is wen I first started playing in 2015 I started off tanking. But I had no idea what a taunt was as I had never played a game like this. I assumed my job was to line of sight myself between adds and my party members. Obviously I had no clue what I was doing and it took a really long time for anyone with enough courage to help me out and point me in the right direction. Folks could litteraly have no idea how to tank in this game it's not like there's any tutorial on how to dps heal or tank so why expect anything but mediocrity when you run with randoms.

    They already have
Its called "vote to kick", use it and see if people in your group have the same opinion as you

Oh you just reminded me of this great story. Me and three of my guild mates were going the undaunted vet daily, and we wanted to grab a random just to quicken things slightly so we queued as the tank, healer, and a DPS in other to make sure we got a dps.

Well the random wasn't too happy about the fact that our tank wasn't a real tank so he initiated "vote-to-kick" on our guild mate after the first boss. So we waited until we got to the final boss, and then we kicked him just before fighting it

Be careful who you vote to kick

So now we have people punishing other people for using vote-to-kick for one of its intended purposes. What a great precedent to set for the community.

Yeah.. I had a similar problem, I joined a group, healer informed she was not a real healer but to just stick behind her, then she proceeds to charge off full speed, getting the other DPS that wasn't me killed, the tank almost died because he was taunting adds off me and the 'healer' with no real healer to help him out and she kept going straight to the first boss. Then she died, big surprise.

She didn't complain directly but told us all to 'keep up' and just had a very bossy, 'we're doing it my way and tough luck' behavior, so I asked to vote to kick. Obviously the tank and other DPS was used to this or were guildies, anyway the vote didn't pass and she said 'nice try' in group chat.

Figuring they were guildies, was totally expecting a vote to kick on me, but didn't happen or it didn't pass, so we all eventually finished the dungeon, had more repair costs then we should have though which irks me
    Hoping for more playable races

Honestly, I hate how the grouping tool works in this game. People that queue up for dungeons with all roles selected but not capable of doing said roles are the worst, especially since there's more then enough skill points to unlock everything you'd need to fulfill any role on a character anyways. It's even worse when they bring their friends so you can't vote kick them either.

I don't think there's anything ZOS can realistically do at this point (or at any point as ZOS has proven their incompetence numerous times already in handling even basic tasks, like bug fixes) to fix this issue, short of making dungeons actually difficult enough to require real tanks and healers in them but then people will just complain about that instead so the only real option at this point is to make some friends and run in pre-made groups
