Maintenance Question.

Just a quick question I was wondering,

How long is maintenance?

LOL jk!

My REAL question, is why does my launcher seem to download the patch or update or whatever after a few hours- yet the game is still down for maintenance. They put the update in the system and we can all download it, yet why wait to turn the game back on?

I have a picture in my head of some guy named Fred or something who's responsible for turning the servers log-in function for the game to 'On' every time the team updates the game during maintenance. Somebody uploads the update, or whatever, and everything else goes "smooth" (for lack of a better word) but then Fred always take a different, from no wait, to hours after downloading it.

"FRED! YOU FORGOT TO TURN THE LOG-INS BACK ON AGAIN! EVERY WEEK FRED! WHAT THE HECK!" Yet they can't fire Fred because he's 1/16th Native American and have to fill certain quotas for diversity in the workforce. lol jk. mindless wanderings.

Someone please tell me the real reason, so I can stop daydreaming at work about why I can't get back into Tamriel, even though I hardly ever get to play.

It's like, I can't play it but just knowing it's down upsets me. I NEED to have it there, ready for me, when ever I need it LOL.

just because you can download the patch, doesnt actually mean the servers are up.
the Download server, where you download the datas from is. But thats not the same servers that we play on.

Just image you could only download when the servers are up again, they would insta RIP from the downloads which all get started

Usually they push the patch out to the updater as soon as it's validated on the servers, so we can download it while they finish login server and crown store maintenance.

Racist? I didn't say anything racist.

A joke about overbearing government regulation of the workplace, that is not racist.
Saying they don't deserve a job, purely because of their heritage, that's racist.

Saying someone can't be fired because of a ridiculous government regulation though?
Sorry if the mere mention of something like race triggers you, but as far as I'm aware the thread I started isn't a safe space.

From all the MMO games I have played it's normally because they're checking the servers are online and running okay or in a test mode before opening them up.

Rather than let players storm online to find nothing is working they have devs log in or just check it's all online fine.

Not sure if this is what ZOS does but it's how previous games I played worked.

This is why I never post. 99% of you got the jokes and joked as well. But then someone always has to have a problem with someone else's comments.

We can't delete our own threads, can we? The moderators or whatever just lock them or remove them after they turn into a flame war?

Bah, what's the point even of asking. I'll just log out now and mosey on back to the real world where I should probably be right now anyway, since I'm in my office working LOL.

The darn internet, even when negative, keeps sucking me back in and making me lose track of time.

If you want to get rid of one of your own threads then report your original post, and ask for a lock. Moderators can lock them for you at request and on some occasions hide them (move them to a hidden section) but don't normally delete them.

No one really knows the reason since ZOS is silent as the grave on these matters But just because the actual patch is done and ready for download, doesn't mean that the servers are. There's most likely a shipload of data and stuff that has to be configured correctly or else bad things can happen; and anything that can happen will happen.
