Ok so one of the first things i found in Slag town was the guy talking about how they lack "real" food.
Does anyone else find it funny that there are all sorts of grapes and wheat and flour and all those foods in nearly EVERY container!?
Come on lazy slag town folk go dumpster diving or something!

And then you loot 2 (!!!) furnishing blueprints from said containers at once, get all excited, only to find out it’s a standard white and green one from the base game...

Khajiit would perhaps assume that many of them have lived their whole lives without seeing real food and would not know it if they saw it.

This one still seeks a logical explanation for a total lack of furnishing recipes.

Indeed and agreed.

However as this one has said before a reasonable drop rate of furnishings and recipes and materials encourages travellers to purchase houses and purchase some furnishings.

Make any of those things too difficult and travellers simply lose interest - and perhaps even stop buying houses - which are the big golden goosey. No one is going to purchase the majority of their housing items from the store. However if they can obtain most of the things they want in the course of their travels then they are going to be much more willing to spend something on furnishings from the store.

Give a little, gain a little more.

Yeah, it's stupid. Perhaps writing an exception rule for all containers is just too complicated or something.

Yes I agree. They’re shortsighted with the pricing and with the drop rates in my opinion. I like housing as a feature despite it being somewhat useless. I’d be more excited though if it had more utility and more water...along with better drop rates.
