Is Soul Assault OP?

I've been PvPing some and I could be having a good battle against some players. We go back and forth trading blows and they just Soul assault me. I go 100-0 instantly and it goes through heals/shields/DK flappers. Just curious if there's counter play or what to do? It's happened multiple times and it's so frustrating. I'm still learning in PvP, but that's like the only ability I've seen just completely destroy me.

its strong but there is plenty of counter play. Also I see other ultimates WAY more than I see soul assault and any type of nerf would send it into the shadow realms.

Soul Assault is the ultimate unlocked by completing the Main Questline.

If you want some specific advice, knowing your class and whether you are magicka or stamina focused will help. (I'm guessing DK?) The general advice is pretty much "don't be squishy, line of sight the caster, and mist form/heal/block/clock/dodge through it."

I have zero problems with soul assault to be honest, also each class other than magwarden has better burst ultimates to use.

Well... I was just curious about it since I've ran into a few people who just nuke me instantly with it. I can Survive dawnbreakers, destro ultis, but not that blue beam of death. Not wanting to start a rant thread about it, but I was just looking for some info on how to negate it somewhat.

Its too cheap, I'll give you that. Making it 125 ulti seems legit. There is counter play, med armor sucks and of course the cry babies.

You die in cyrodiil and while waiting for load screens why not come to the forums and cry for a nerf? Never mind thinking about a way around it, you know like LINE OF SIGHT.

noob players ruining this game now for years. It never ends they will be crying about something else once this gets nerfed, watch.

I think the OP would like help coming up with those counters. I can't really help, since my MagDK PVP healer doesn't have a problem with Soul Assault since I've got enough health/resistances/heals to shrug in off.

Blocking helps mitigate a lot of the damage or you could just get in their face and while they are channeling assault them

It's bad if you're in medium armor. Not much you can do. It should probably be a bit higher cost to use.

Block and spam heals\shields. Wardens can pull off 80k soul assaults though.

Use 1h+shield and preferably switch from medium to heavy.
Or always hug trees and rocks to break line of sight

Yes! Shame on people using a skill that may help them. We should all slot nothing but skills that will be of no value and allow our enemies to survive with no counterplay talent whatsoever.

The people that complain about “cancer” builds that are available to them and everyone else in the game get on my nerves worse than anyone else.

Nah, i have no problem with SA on any of my builds. In regards to using it, gimme a dawn breaker or meteor Any day. Great damage, cc, ability to use spells while using them, aoe. So much better.

It used to be, but they changed that and increased its strength (TG update I believe...?)

nope that ult only has one counter against stam players and that is to block because if any moment you stop holding that block you will die. I don't know were are people getting this "it has many counters" from because as a stam nb player i would like to know about these mystery counters apart from the ones i already know like soul siphon and cloak, for cloak you have to wait two seconds so it's not really "counter"

Really? Wow that is kinda OP then. So when you use Soul Assault, you are essentially immune from any type of Crowd Control for the entire duration of the channel?

I would like to see some Developer's commentary about that decision if it exists in any of the patch notes.

You can’t dodge, cleanse, cloak, bash or LoS SA. All skills should have counter play. And skills like these is why PvP is FAR from balanced.

You can line of sight it. You can cloak after 2 seconds, rendering 1.5 seconds of it wasted, it's a great counter.
