Just wanting to know if its worth getting for the story and content even if the DLC is a bit more pricier than normal...

What do you guys think?

If you're interested in the story content I can only say... Yes, yes, oh Azura yes!

I haven't finished it yet (very slow playing) but there is something about that zone which I can't place but it's amazing. It's a feeling I've not had since SWTOR and ESO's launch. It just feel exciting, everything about it.

Clockwork City is out of hand. I don't understand why folks buy all the DLC when you can have access via ESO Plus, along with unlimited mat bag, double bank space, double housing item cap, 1500 crowns a month, xp buff, loot buff, costume dying, etc, etc. That's always been a headscratcher.

I have enough subscriptions going out, I don't really want to add another one... besides I don't have all the DLC I only buy the ones I think I will enjoy.

I wouldn't say the story is SWTOR like (but it is amazing), it's something about the feeling of the zone which triggers my SWTOR nostalgia.

Maybe it's the darkened colours, robotic voices and metal everywhere, but it just really triggers that nostalgia vibe for me.

    Not everyone can afford ESO+?
Also the benefits are not used by everyone in full. If someone is just playing the game for its story it's likely they wouldn't be making use of the benefits as often.
Also console players already need to pay for the subscriptions to the online services.

ESO+ logically makes sense for value for money if you're playing ESO as a full time MMO and on PC, for others it might not make as much sense to spend the money in this way.
Also if you've ever purchased a DLC the ESO+ subscription loses some of its value as you're paying for access to things you already had access to.

Thankfully we have a system where each individual can choose how they access the games content and it doesn't effect anyone else, meaning it's not something we need to explain to others how they're doing it wrong.

Hopefully you find my response interesting, and this is just my personal opinion and reason as to why I don't have eso plus.

I buy the dlc so I can keep it forever as opposed to paying monthly to keep them. Which is something ive always done with my games.

The crafters bag is very cool, but I am easily managing without, there are times where I wish I had it, BUT again I can manage without, I only have what I need for my character. I travel light the whole time. And keep my weapons and armour in my inventory.

Double bank space, again is great. But I have a guild bank that I regularly check and clear all the clutter, and I give exceeded amounts of materials or whatever to my guild members.

The double housing cap is very attractive and I wish I had eso plus for this BUT, ive managed to make my guild hall look very nice and I still have space left for any little details (I have forsaken stronghold). SO I can manage without.

Costume dyeing is useless to me, because I hate costumes a lot. I want people to see my armour I crafted and people message we saying I look cool and ask what styles I use.

The 1500 crowns would be wasted on me because I wouldn't know what to buy. I won't buy mounts because they are all the same except with a new skin and it isn't great. Wouldn't buy costumes. Bites. Id probably buy the dlcs with the crowns but as ive said. id rather just pay when it releases.

I do not benefit from xp buffs as I don't have any alts, nor do I want to make an alt. I like my character and i'm happy playing with just the one. Not fussed about the loot buff either. I'll just work extra hard for what I want.

That's pretty much why I wouldn't ever get eso plus. My playstyle honestly wouldn't benefit from it. It's not a bad thing if you don't have it.

Yes I believe its 500 crowns more than the normal price of DLC.

No it doesn't cost more than the "normal" DLC. Shadow of the Hist and Horns of the Reach are dungeon DLCs priced at 1500 crowns. "Normal" DLCs are zone DLCs like Thieves guild and Dark Brotherhood of which are 2000 if I remember correctly. Imperial city was 2500 and Orsinium 3000 crowns.

I can only recommend Clockwork city. It has a great story and has my personal favorite quest and boss fight
    the motionless guardian.
It's definitely worth the money but if you already have at least 500crowns I would recommend you get 30days ESO+ and buy the DLC with crowns (to have it permanently and to get the ESO+ benefits for one month at virtually the same real world money price)

I don't have any crowns at the moment and the reason I asked is because I am going to have to put some crowns into the game, I tend to buy (a lot) out of the crown store (mounts mostly and the christmas gear looks epic :) ) sometimes I do ask why not just subscribe...but I know the craft bag and the extra bank space is lost on me, I am a PVP player normally and I hardly EVER play PVE unless I need to level or come out to upgrade and buy armor. Im a sucker for story games and I really enjoyed Morrowind when it was released, and I would happily pay for a DLC that can give me a nice story I can sink my teeth into... anyone know how many hours it is??

I can't imagine more than 20. I've done a little of it in about 8 but I have been playing very slowly with another and listening to every snippet of voice work in full.

I know a friend of mine completed the base quest in <12 hours yesterday, I don't know how much of the side quests were done as well.

@AnviOfVai: In terms of story, quest and zone design, I can very much recommend the DLC. I really like the "Elder Scrolls meets steampunk" vibe. :)

@faerigirl: I feel with you! :) Try this list as a starting point: http://en.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Clockwork_City#Quests
If you can't remember which quests you already did, and you're on PC, try the addon "Journal Quest Log". It shows an alphabetical list of all quests you're completed with the corresponding zone attached.
    Kind regards,

Well, whether you're buying the DLC or using ESO Plus, Clockwork City is some of the best content since Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood, and it's also refreshing and new. Earning the new style motifs is easy with the dailies. Yes, I highly recommend this new DLC, regardless of how you're getting it.

Double bank space, again is great.

Here is a trick, get ESO Plus for one month, and then you get all the crafting mat storage. Once it cancels, you still have the Crafting Bag, you just can't put anymore in it. Really helps if you have multiple stacks of mats. Anyway, you can use it for mass long term storage.

Just be careful with the doubled bank, as if you fill that up, then cancel ESO Plus, you can't really use the bank to transfer stuff between alts until you get some space in it.

Absolutely. Same. And its cool because it does it without feeling like a ripoff, feeling fresh, and feeling like ESO's own thing.

I was also reminded of the recent and outstanding Bladerunner 2049 with the random Fabricants saying strange things that hint at deeper meaning.

    All around great stuff.

I can tell you I wasn't thrilled when it was announced... Not against it, just wasn't my favorite idea, though logical.

After completing CWC, it became my favorite of the mini-zones. The story is fantastic (including side quests), the art is incredible (as usual with this game), the sound is excellent.... There's still stuff to do even after you finish the story.

So if immersion, story, and content is what drives you - you will not go wrong obtaining access to this content. I am very happy with it.

Personally, I prefer ESO story telling over SWToR's... And CWC is no exception.

    I highly, highly, suggest it.

It's hard for a game to compete with SWTOR when it comes to story because no MMO brings their characters to life like that game does. The interaction between your character and the other characters is unrivaled on that respect.

The rest of the game is pretty sub par though, especially when compared to ESO which does pretty much everything else but story way better.
