Mundue stone furniture cost 4k crown....EACH.
So each of them worth 2 dlc??

What kind of ppl are this rich to ignore the label and buy all those?? How many golden whales are out there to keep ZOS gives such pricing?
  • silvermistktralasub17_ESO
it might be noted that our guild actually set up a paypal link on the guild website so that guild-members could donate toward the mundus stones we have. We now have all of those, as well as all of the tables (including the newest ones) and the transmutation station. But it was a guild effort, rather than a single person's effort. that's the best way to do things like this.

Also, everytime you see a pre-existing asset on the CS, ZOS only needs to sell one to make a profit on it.

Not necessarily true. Pretty sure the manhours of the art team will add up to a few hundred dollars on even the simplest of items.

@MasterSpatula It does not take much effort to take something that already exists ingame and make a few adjustments to make it conform with the furnishing system.

If we were talking about new assets, like the Elk Mount, I would agree with you.
That thing was still too expensive though.

I don't disagree that the Elk was stupid expensive. I'm just saying that even at $40 or so, they're going to have to sell.... oh, maybe 8 or so, before they make a profit.

After that, it's pure profit, though.

Generally calling people "golden whales" isn't a nice way of addressing someone.

Also your thread seems to be aimed at finding out who the people are that pay prices you don't like and thus keeping them high by buying them, correct me if I am wrong but that's the tone/feeling I got from its wording.

Sunk costs are sunk, very basic economic concept. The only costs associated with putting a --PREEXISTING-- asset on the crown store are the fifteen minutes it takes an intern to add it to the store and perhaps the fractions of a penny it adds to the server cost overhead.

Whales is a term used by the gaming industries sleaziest to describe players who spend a lot of money on their games.
The terms used a whales, dolphins and minnows and none of them are meant with affection for their players.

Apologies for my comments then as you were not aware, but yeah calling someone a golden whale is not a great way to ask an honest question about their spending habits.

I have no problem with those particular items. I think it's good if ZoS can make money off stuff that doesn't significantly affect gameplay.

While it is a different company and an ex-employee so take it with a grain of salt, it does sound reasonable. And if there are people out there dropping $15k on loot boxes at a time, you can expect to keep seeing them and other high priced items.

My friends were discussing this recently.

The mundus stones were already made for the base game. They were just added to the CS.

4k each is troll worthy. All of us agreed it was too much to pay for a slight convenience. Would of bought 4 for 4k inn a bundle sure.

So between the guild we were discussing, ZOS lost any sales on those by overpricing them by us.

Whales are destroying computer gaming as we know/knew it. It is very disappointing. Eventually, these will just be platforms for rich children (at a mental level) to show off their expensive shoes.

To some degree, this is already true as most of the actual 'gaming' in ESO is so easy, it can hardly be called gaming anymore.

In the larger picture, I think this relates to the problems western culture is facing across the world as post-WW2 values fade away and inequality grows.

Seriously doubt that....not to be rude or short but do you own or buy real art?
$400 - $1000 is realistic for nice poster size originals done on certain textures with the frame included.

    Digital items......$1-$5 each at best.
You have to consider per ZOS these items are being made open to over 5-8 million potential customers.

Also, people aren't actually buying these, its the crowns that they are buying therefore this is simply a exchange of virtual currency. Most items are priced waaaay to high so I choose not to buy any but to suggest the cost is on target, is a bit off if its considered the cost of an artist development.

Please mr Ambassador give a better examples how to describe players who spend a lot of money on microtransactions in their games :). I also was thinking about these only as golden whales, thought from my point of view (English 2-nd language too) the meaning is much more cute and accurate than rude in any way. Maybe you are just a bit too sensitive :).

Also IMHO 4k crowns for a single furniture is simply meeh. 9k crowns for 6 months subscription I got, means I could afford 2 furnitures :/ .
