What light armour sets do you think will be essential for tanking next update after the heavy armour nerfs?.

When clockwork city lands, Try a Combination of 5-piece Fortified Brass, 4-Piece Necropotence (5 if you are going sword & board on backbar) & Mighty Chudan.

Fortified Brass (Craftable)
(2) Max Health.
(3) Physical Resistance.
(4) Spell Resistance.
(5) Adds 5170 Physical Resistance.
(5) Adds 5170 Spell Resistance.


Necropotence
(2) Adds 1096 Max Magicka.
(3) Adds 1096 Max Magicka.
(4) Adds 1096 Max Magicka.
If you are using sword & board on backbar for the next one.
(5) while you have a pet active, your max magicka is increased by 3150.


Mighty Chudan
(1) Adds 2975 Spell Resistance.
(1) Adds 2975 Physical Resistance.
(2) Gain Major Ward & Major Resolve at all times, Increasing your Physical and Spell Resistance by 5280.
(2) Adds 1206 Max Health.

With those, it should make you tanky as anything while retaining plenty of magicka. & since fortified brass is craftable, you should try going for necropotence jewellery.

5 Hist Bark or Torug's Pact (heavy chest, medium legs, light waist, sword and shield/lightning staff)
5 Alteration Mastery or Sanctuary (3 jewels, feet, hands)
2 Bloodspawn or 1 Chudan + 1 Pirate Skeleton (light)
Chest, legs, head, shield infused, feet, waist, hand, shoulders sturdy, tri-glyphs, shield play glyphs on jewels, infused sword with crusher enchant, charged staff with shock glyph.

Will agree with Asardes and would recommend the Torugs+Alteration mastery combo.

But want to highlight one bit since it seems by your OP that you are asking cause heavy armor is getting nerfed. The nerfs that are happening to Heavy armor do not effect the efficiency of heavy armor tanking in PvE. The only thing is that classes other than NB's cannot use Tava's Favor on their own anymore, they would have to really on Major Evasion from Gossamer, which is not really viable. Though obviously Wardens have Minor Evasion but just Minor is not gonna proc it enough and make it a waste. Anyway, my point is, the removal of the Wrath passive and Evasion will not change much for PvE Heavy armor Tanks, most people don't even run Tava's anymore cause there are better alternatives out there.

But again if you want to go light I would go Torug's+Alteration mastery for 4 man content. But there are also A LOT of other good combos, not really explored all that much myself but the sustain and debuff options you get from said combo is really strong even for heavy armor users.

IMHO, if you are planning on tanking with Light Armor, you will absolutely need shielding...

As a result, I'd recommend:

Mighty Chudan x2 (8255 to all Resists in constant effect + 1205 Max Health Bonus)...
Combat Physician x5 (8k damage shield every 6 seconds)...
Almalexia's Mercy x5 (30% chance to heal for 2k+ every 3 seconds)...

Are you a Templar btw? Because if so, keeping Extended Ritual (or Rite of Retribution) up (to consistently proc the Combat Physician Damage Shield) would be very helpful and essential...

Combat physician damage shield is insignificant for PvE tanking. Also the proc rate is low because it procs only if you have already taken damage. Gossamer has the same problem.with procs. As for evasion Hist Bark is pretty much the only reliable way to get it if you are not on NB.

Also tanking with less than 5p of heavy will leave you with less than 20K health buffed, so you will require more points in health or lord mundus to reach 25K which is the bare minimum. Overall you are better off using 5p heavy anyway. Tanking vet dungeons with less than that is pretty unreliable. I've tanked vRoM and vCoS HM with 22K health on a magicka sorcerer but I won't recommend it.

Yea, the newer dungeons do hit harder, last boss of Bloodroot forge hits REALLY hard with his heavy attacks. I usually go with my Plague and Ebon set up for him.
