There was a thread before that someone did about armor types and how it might work differently. The gist of the thread was heavy armor was all about mitigation, medium was all about damage and light was all about recovery. I thought this should be the best middle ground for the current 'meta' so to speak.
It's basically heavy gave the best mitigation, without the innate resource returns. Medium would also give benefit to damage, regardless of Stam or magicka. Light armor would then allow the best recovery for any builds. It seems to me that this is the best way to go about it.
