I’m coming to ESO after playing FFXIV for quite some time now. I always main a healer in MMOs and in FFXIV the healer meta was to keep up shields or HoTs to allow yourself the most DPS uptime.
I feel like ESO could certainly function like this, after all with my points all in Magicka I’m sure my abilities will do reasonable damage, but I don't know what the expected function of a healer is here.
While I certainly plan to progress into endgame right now that is not where I am - I just want to have an idea of my role when I queue for my first dungeon.
Are healing requirements steep? Should I be trying to put out damage as my next priority if everyone is okay? Am I capable of dishing out enough damage that it's worth the MP? Do I need to worry about ripping aggro off the tank?
Right now I’m a Templar though I’ve also messed around with a Warden. Not sure how much difference class is going to make but those two were the only classes with some dedicated healing skill lines.
