Recently I slotted this skill on one of my characters, and (having never used it before) was impressed by how large the portal is, and now you can have three portals down, but really, how many people actually use it? Will this make more people use it now?

Frozen device is extremely, extremely strong in PVP. It's probably the most underestimated skill in a Warden's arsenal. Now, with this new change where you can have 3 down at once... that's going to be insane.

It's really funny to put it on dead bodies. Rez and instapull.

Agreed, its range is insane, much longer than Unrelenting grip, in breaches and bridge fights its really powerful to be able to pull people that far away.

And OP, its also used by some Warden Tanks, this will make it easier to use for them. Love the change.

I wish they add one of the morphs into the base effect, giving this skill an option to function the same way mechanically to Unrelenting Grip. You could target an enemy to spawn a frozen rune underneath them which would teleport the target directly to you.

It would be very nice for PvE tanking, whereas the other morph could be used to set deadly teleport traps.

I used it a lot on flag capture, while staying far from my allies and using the portal on the flag. It's extremely useful against enemy bombers, who get teleported far from their target and miss their deto/ultimate burst on a single blocking tank target.
Also extremely useful on a breach, or for pulling an emey away from his zerg. This thing work on blocking target, which is even more amazing.

I couldn't imagine tanking on my warden in pve without it. Tanks need a skill the stack and burn mobs or they are just running around. Frozen device is really easy to use and almost better then chains cuase of the 30% less damage the monster does.

The 30% damage reduction is over in a few seconds, and teleporting is much slower. I love the Frozen Device but in PvE Unrelenting grip got it beat where it matters most, Speed, Reliability and Precision. Frozen Device however beats Unrelenting grip in Range and Cost. Frozen Device costs much less has a much longer range. There are pros and cons for both, and I like em both.

I agree, that is why I stated, "almost".

I use it on my Warden for tanking... It doesn't let you select what you want to pull like chains does, so there are some fights (2nd boss in VMOL) where you can't use it as effectively, but for situations where you just want to gather everything in a bunch and AoE it down it works fine albeit with a bit of a delay.

Putting down 3 at a time will make it a very strong ability. Think portals in VDSA with a Warden Healer/Tank, or other situations where you can anticipate where something will spawn. You can put your 3 portals in advance and have all the ranged things pulled into the group as soon as the fight starts.

In PvP you could essentially lock down 3 entry points at a time. Pulling players into a spot where you and your team can execute them. If you pick the morph that does the Major Maim you are also making it so they essentially can't fight back either.

This could actually end up being a little too powerful...
