Call lightning, in maelstrom arena?

My question, is the call lightning a mechanic suppose to effect the whole arena when it strikes, or is it something that should only effect the aoe it telegraphs?

It only does damage to the AOE it telegraphs . Sometimes you will take damage because of lag though . MSA lag is famous , you will get used to it .

I have a video, where the call lightning is striking an island across from me, and a second later myself taking damage from it.

Literally right after a re spawn, nothing else in the arena.
