Im working on a mag dk... so far damage seems low and im wondering if this will give a viable boost

5 piece (2 weapons 3 armor dual wield)pelinal's aptitude

2 piece valkyn skoria

3 piece (rings and necklace) dreugh king slayer....

    Pelinal's Aptitude Set


    LEVEL 50 CHAMPION 160

    (2 items) Adds 1206 Maximum Health

    (3 items) Adds 129 Stamina Recovery

    (4 items) Adds 129 Magicka Recovery

    (5 items) Your Weapon Damage and Spell Damage both become the highest of the two values

    (1 items) Adds 1206 Max Health

    (2 items) When you deal damage with a damage over time effect, you have an 8% chance to summon a meteor that deals 9000 Flame Damage to target and 4000 Flame Damage all other enemies within 5 meters. This effect can occur once every 5 seconds.

    This last set goes to 5 but i think 3 is all i can fit...

    The build you laid out for a mag dk OP is rubbish sorry.

    Dreugh King is for stam builds.

    Pelinals is for hybrids.

    Valkyn is good, keep that, or alternatively use 2 pc Grothdarr.

    If I were you, I would use the following and fine tune with cp allocation to how you want it.

    5 pc Julianos, 5 pc Silks of the Sun, 2 pc Valkyn/Grothdarr.

    or

    5 pc Silks of the Sun, 5 pc Burning SpellWeave, 2 pc Valkyn/Grothdarr.

    Im going off the fact that u can stack stam weapons alittle easier then spell and then using pel to transfer it over to spell damage

    Could you talk a bit more about what you were trying to do with this build? You seem to not have all your gear slots filled, I think you have two more armor slots and your back weapon.

    You certainly aren't following any well-known build design, so you are off the beaten path a bit. I don't want to tell you to follow other people's builds (because that's no fun), so take this as just some random thoughts.

    If you are building for mag dk damage the important resources are max magicka, spell damage, spell critical, spell penetration and to some extent magicka recovery. Getting as many of these as high as possible gets the best results.

    Your build seems to have lots of other stats that won't help. Weapon damage, health on your jewellery, stam recovery. These are almost useless in any mag dk dpd build I can imagine, so you are missing out on the bonuses that could help you more. Probably the biggest loss is having pelenials aptitude because unfortunately it is an almost useless set (there are lots of threads about it on these forums and reddit).

    By having dual wield you loose out on lots of great magic damage skills, especially wall of elements, and damage (higher single target damage with flame staff, higher aoe damage with shock staff) and you can't do heavy attacks for magicka recovery.

    I know you didn't ask for an alternative build, but I thought I would just mention a few idea's
    1) switch to destruction staff, ideally one flame one shock
    2) you can keep your monster helm if you like, but there are advantages to wearing 2 x 5 piece sets and one piece of the monster set.
    3) some easy to get sets you could combine for a powerful mag dk are
    a)julianos - crafted which is nice
    b) silks of the sun - better than Julianos for mag dk''s who just use fire magic - use with Julianos for insane damage in overland pve where mobs don't have spell resistance
    c) spinners - easy to farm but expensive to buy, this will increase your spell penetration and is probably the most useful set if you are doing group dungeons with random groups.

    #1 tip (Re)check your graphics settings periodically - especially resolution.

    I wondered if that was it. It makes a little sense. You get 2 x 129 damage from your dreugh king slayer jewellery, and with pelenials that becomes spell damage...

    However that 2 x 129 spell damage cost you 8 gear slots. And because the jewelery is all in the healthy trait instead of arcane you actually loose the equivalent to nearly 300 spell damage (because max mag combines with spell damage to make the total magic damage).
    #1 tip (Re)check your graphics settings periodically - especially resolution.
