Maelstrom Arena Disappointment

After beating veteran maelstrom today I received a winter born lightning staff.... When I asked the customer service team why, they said beating maelstrom on veteran does not Garuntee a maelstrom weapon drop..... I thought I received said staff in error. Guess not.... So I just wanted everyone to be aware.. Just bc you beat maelstrom on veteran, does not Garuntee you'll get a maelstrom weapon... Lol.

You receive two items from the chest. One is a random MA set item, the other is a maelstrom weapon. Both purple. Completion does guarantee a vMA weapon drop.

Sadly none of those realizations is spelled out in the game. It is reliant on the poorly updated wikis like uesp.net to have that information.
I recommend bookmarking that and the fextralife wiki for the game.

VMA used to not have guaranteed drops but it does now. Double check your inventory, because now it should be dropping one MA weapon and one of the MA set pieces from the final chest.

I'm pretty sure it's just guaranteed that a set from that arena should drop, but not the maelstrom weapons with the special enchants, and definitely random trait on it.

Unless you actually did it on normal, in which case only the set weapon or shield drops. Check your achievements, specifically the Orsinium ones referring to Maelstrom.

Yeah vMA drops a MA weapon every time now (been that way for a long time). They just added set weapons to the last chest as well.

vMA has a 99,9907% chance to drop a weapon u don't want. There's a very big bowl of cornflakes waiting at the end of that rainbow.

The Shadows of the Hist update last year made it 100% droprate on Maelstrom weapons from VMA:

Was the weapon/drops purple or blue? If blue, it was normal MA. I haven't done it since a few days, but when i did it last week i did get a MA set weapon and a MA Weapon. It's 100% chances drop now, well the last 87 times i did it i had a VMA weapon, not just the trait i wanted lol.... Check your stuff to make sure if you got purple stuff, if it's purple and you got no VMA weapons, maybe you had bag full and picked up only one of the two items?... And one more thing... if last stage took you less than an hour on first try, it was definately not Veteran mode Another thing to see, look at your character's title list in your character's sheet, if you got « Maelstrom Arena conqueror » or something like that, you get this title from normal and vet completion , but if you did it on vet, you get the title « Stormproof » or something, forgot the exact title in english game. Another tip, in the MA lobby where you get the quest from the quest giver, if all Bosses Statues in each alcoves are Golden/Bronze, they aare obtained from killing them in Normal Mode, if they are silver, it's when you killed them in Vet Mode.

you obviously didnt do it on vet, vet maelstrom guarantees a vma weapon and a weapon or shield of one of the other sets. never heard of anyone not getting a vma weapon on a vet conpletion and u dont even need to have a score

YOu are to be guaranteed a weapon and the support got it very wrong on that, or they forgot something in patch notes which is not likely, or it is likely but not this.

The more amazing issue here is how someone can play maelstrom arena all the way through to completion and think it was vet when in reality it was on normal.

I can confirm today after patch ive got a Maelstrom weapon.

1. Was this your first time in vet Maelstrom Arena
2. Did it take Hours to complete
3. Did you die a lot.
4. Was it hard/frustrating

If you answered yes to #1 and no to #2, #3, and #4 then you were in Normal.

And if he answered yes to 2, 3, and 4 then he could have been playing a stamina character on normal.

I believe a purple ring when I see a screenshot of it. Pictures from after HotR or it didn´t happen

Oddly, I've seen no rings drop in vMA on vet mode. I only seem to get necklaces. The only rings I've seen were in Normal mode in blue, and also got one from leaderboard in gold quality. The drop table for the sets has many "holes" in it since in 63 runs things should have evened out.

Did they actually include Winterborn Weapons though? I haven't seen any of these? What am I missing here? I still haven't come across Purple Rings on Vet since like....When Guaranteed Weapons were introduced...which is like a year ago now.
