Pvp stamina and magicka question

Hi, I'm not a hardcore player and I use mainly a NB stamina and a sorcerer magicka. I don't have too much time played with the sorcerer but I have it very good equipped as the same with the nightblade.
The thing is that in bgs I don't feel the damage I do as with my nightblade. Also even if I rotate my skills well and I use my damage shield well, my survivabilty is inferior as if I have to deal with the same situation as with my nightblade.
With my NB I jump to the guy I can put some much pressure and damage that I don't give them time to nothing. Also their hp bar goes down significantly.
With my sorcerer is like my magicka damage is being mitigated somehow always I don't see the enemy bar moving down... only in specially situations...
Is the damage based on stamina different as the damage based on magicka? Penetrates different? What I'm missing?
