Effectiveness of Worm Cult

I've been doing some number crunching on worm cult.

My method was to take Alcast's rotations for magic sorcerer, templar, dragonknight and nightblade. Then compute the costs with and without worm and estimated rotation speed for each. This should give us a rough idea of magic savings per second.

The results is that worm roughly equates to 100 magic per second. The numbers are fairly uniform between classes (and would obviously vary slightly for each individual). For comparison minor magickasteal (elemental drain) is 400 magic per second.

In practical terms, this means that every 30 seconds you've saved enough magic to cast 1 elemental blockade.
In comparison to elemental drain, where every 7.5 seconds you've recovered enough magic to cast elemental blockade... which is when you'd ideally recast elemental blockade.

    Yeah this is why I only use worm's in trials. It's just not so effective in 4 man dungeons.

    every little bit helps, but yea, worm is not as effective unless it is in trials, dont see why it was nerfed for morrowind even if it was only 1 perc

    Pretty much the only place sustain is wanted. Heck, by OPs calculations that's the equivalent of 200 regen. Not something to take lightly.

    What is the percent again ? I think they changed it from 5% to 4% or something like that?
    I ran it with Juliano's heavy for the longest time until last patch when I replaced worm for wizards riposte & swapped to light juli (magblade)

    My big question is what does the five piece bonus give in comparison to a cost reduction enchant glyph? Ie... 2 cost reduction ~ 4% from worm?

    Exactly right, worm went from 5% to 4%.

    In terms of magic recovery, worm is about 200, and a gold recovery glyph is 169.

    Keep in mind the worm 'recovery' metric is based on a continuous fairly optimized rotation where you are spending 25,000 magic every 10 seconds. If you have to stop due to mechanics that number will go down. Conversely, if you are using more than 25,000 magic every 10 seconds then the number will go up.

    I have been in the process of switching my templar over to healer, what armor combo do you recommend for dungeons (probably PUGs to start)? I have SPC and Worm cult currently on. I also have Sanctuary sitting in the bank.

    Minor Magickasteal was also nerfed to 300 per second. So 200 vs 300,. If Worm is about 200 per sec and you do ele drain while wearing worm that's 500 per sec you are providing. Your magicka recovery number is the amount recovered every 2 seconds, so 500 per second becomes the equivalent of 1000 magicka recovery. That's 33 to 50% more recovery for dd's with 2000-3000 recovery not to mention for you the healer who probably has less than that.

    Your absolutely right on the minor magickasteal nerf.

    But worm is only 100 recovery per second, so equivent of 200 recovery.
